I have the 13 origin tx and it’s a great reel. I have it on a medium action St Croix rod. It’s a great reel for finesse fishing without costing to much money.

I really wanted to like this reel. I got it for $99 on sale, but it just sits in my garage now.. The spool is super free which was impressive. It needs a lot of the brakes turned on to keep it under control though. Heavier lures will give a lot you less trouble.. Another thing that is aggravating is it tends to spool the line to the right side of the spool. You can even it out and with in a few casts it’s right back to that side.. Paint doesn’t hold up, even after 2 weeks it was wearing off. Like I said I really wanted to like this reel. I’ll keep my Lews and Shimano for now.. The Abu Garcia Black Max I started out with a long time ago is overall better in my opinion.. Good honest review man!

Actually a bit bummed to hear you had those issues. Mine is still going strong once I figured the goofy brakes out. I primarily throw Shimano and a couple Daiwa these days.

@@OkieOutdoorAdventures I have a SLX DC, that thing really bombs. From weightless flukes to heavy jigs, the DC reels are a game changer.. It’s a little on the heavy side, but it’s held up great for 3 years now.. I still like my Lews BB1 Pro and Tournament Pro a lot.

Literally just bought this real, while I was at the store I got p-line 15lb. Haven't used a baitcaster in years, failed horribly then (cheaper real). Before I went fishing I Google searched and found that mono was more forgiving for beginners. So I ran to walmart to get some cheap trilene 12lb. Went out for a hr or so and only had 2 hiccups, one was me being anxious to gain more distance lol but overall not bad. Seeing your using the p-line I think I'll switch since I have it lol great video. Thank you

So I was throwing braid on this exclusively, and it handled it like a champ. As soon as I get around later I’ll check my exact brake settings and let you know what I’m using, but it’s handled braid, fluro, and p line top water with no issues. Really since the first trip out, it’s been one of my most consistent reels.

I'm set at 3 on the brake 15 lb line and I have had it for 5 months and have no backlash at all

13 makes some solid stuff. I had a Sport Z (green reel) but I had a lot of problems with it. Looking back I know some were my fault, other weren’t. I had fresh seagwar 12lb on it and if I fluffed up and was pulling the line out like you were the inside of the frame was rough and was nicking my line up and I’d break off over and over again. May try them again one day soon. I’m actually looking at an Enigma reel right now that I may pick up soon to try them out.

Shrek, I use 13 fishing rod and reels and love them. Though I don’t own the inception I do use the 7:3:1 Inception Z Sport and it’s great for my lipless crankbait set up.

Since you said you have the shimano slx dc, how does it compare? I have the shimano slx cut that I absolutely love, but I am looking to buy any other reel. Trying to decide between another shimano slx series reel and this one.

I think it would be hard to compare this to the DC. That said, this is a really nice reel for the price and I’m very happy with it. I haven’t got a video out on it yet but another affordable option would be the Daiwa Tatula CT. I think dollar for dollar it’s better overall than this reel and the SLX.

Great Video my Friend and I’ve been looking at this Reel for a while and saving for a good Reel with an Aluminum Frame. Did you try any of the lighter stuff like 1/4 ounce maybe with it? I just got back into Fishing after several Decades off and I’m still figuring out the little magnetic controls in the side.

I don’t know how durable the components are when holding up to salt water. Assuming you clean your gear I can’t imagine you’d have any issues, but can’t tell you with 100% certainty. I’m land locked so I don’t have a lot of salt experience
