I saw this in the mid sixties and it scared me to death, especially the canopy bed. I couldn't sleep peacefully for the longest time. Watching it forty some years later is a lot easier. Lol!

@@jaybrooks7431 No, I was a little kid and it was on television. I never saw it at the movies. On tv and on the vhs I got, you can see the ghosts.

The lady who played the maid also played the witch in the Wizard of Oz. Funny that Bud asked is she was really a witch and she picks up the broom and walks away at the end ...very good movie, great visual effects not over done like todays big budget Hollywood garbage 😃 where visuals fight the actors for attention.

question: I know the orginal audience had a "viewer" they were encouraged to take home like it could show you real ghosts. Anyone know if some claimed they saw one with that viewer?

Wow this movie is literally hard to watch but not because it's scary... But because it's so old my mind just wanders away from the plot altogether

It's not that old! 1960. I've seen movies from the 1910s. Plus, I don't understand why it's *literally* hard to watch. Is that to mean that it's literally hard (the opposite of soft), rather than figuratively (the opposite of easy)?
