I use the term 'low impact' rather than 'zero waste' as it makes living with less waste seem more possible and people are more likely to do it, whereas zero waste sounds impossible so people go "why even try"

Is funny, I used to watch young girls doing fast- fashion hauls and other hauls. I was down and they distracted me. Then after a year or so my eyes opened, I couldn‘t understand why KZbinrs would use their influence to help abusive industries to push more sales. Now I comment on those videos, try and help others open their eyes. I will start referring to you to show them a better and a more gorgeous example... 😊. Then I started watching decluttering and Minimalism videos. The visuals of these type of videos are what give me some rest, what makes my mouth water, my mind wander and wonder, I find these gorgeous and peaceful. I do feel many of the minimalist people have fancy brand names in their homes. Le Creuset pan, brand fashion... Happy if indeed you guys have the money, or impressed if owning less but better is what minimalism creates. That said, as a person with less money it is hard to live the way you do. I would love to. Though I know it is the magic of editing making your life seem so ideal, I do feel you created something quite wonderful for your family. I‘m happy for you. Wanting a happier life and more money still allows you to enjoy seeing others are having those. A good KZbinr is as good as his/her community and comments. This community is lovely and full of respect. Wonderful to see... 😊. You keep up the good work. You have great style. A great family and home. Happy I found you.... 😊.

about the first part, youtubers do it because that's the majority of how everyone lives. and they make content to appeal to a wider audience. Mostly everyone has bought some sort of fast fashion or unsustainable fashion without knowing and that's the dominating culture of fashion among regular people. it's not that they do it on purpose or absolutely know the role they play in the cycle of waste culture. its just the dominating norm for most people. which they seek to appeal to. they themselves may not know how harmful it is. another reason is that it's cheap content to make. its easier to do things to things conventionally because that's largely what many societies cater to. most societies dont have a sustainability culture so it's going to be kind of hard to go against the grain when you have little ground to gather on. Also, sustainable living/fashion can be financially restricting for some. whether that's the audience or the youtuber. there are definitely plenty of KZbinrs who do make content on sustainable lifestyles but that's not the dominating culture in real life, so you're not going to see that as the dominating content KZbinrs create. also sustainable living requires time and energy most people are not able to devote due to financial reasons. in this day and age, even two incomes dont cut it anymore. It's hard to take the extra time and steps to cook your food fresh (which requires time and energy), pack leftovers away for tomorrow (which requires time and energy) and put refuse in a compost (time and energy) rather than pick up fast food on your way from work which is cheap and easily accessible when you work from morning to night and throw containers in the trash. most people lives are centered around and controlled by money and whether they have it or not. so when so many people dont have more money than time, they spend more of their time devoted to making more money so pay rent, bills, food and such. recycling is an easy way to be green but lots of communities dont offer recycling services. most societies just arent prioritizing sustainable living. and those who can either already live in societies that prioritize sustainable living or they're wealthy enough to not need to focus on labor and providing basic needs for themselves and they can devote more time to environmental efforts like this. but most people in any given country dont fall into either categories. theres only so much individuals can do without the infrastructure to enable environmental efforts from government levels.

Love the video! A small tip about translation: English speakers don't use "ice cream" for frozen treats without cream. Typically, Americans will use "popsicle" and Brits will use "ice lolly." I'm not complaining-- It's just information that I thought you might find useful.

A veces me es difícil creer como hay cosas que al resto del mundo le impresionan y que en mi país se consideran "cosas de pobres"; como el usar zacate (a eso que le llama esponja natural), yo lo he usado toda la vida, aunque usualmente se asocia con personas rurales o de bajos recursos, pero ahora todo eso está 'de moda' Edit: y las 'bolsas ecológicas' en México se llaman bolsas de mandado y se usan desde siempre, a veces los mismos comercios (como verdulerías o carnicerías locales) te las regalan a final de año en agradecimento por ser cliente frecuente, y en las tortillerías te regalan tortilleros* de mimbre (también es una planta) *es una especie de canasta pequeña para poner las tortillas Sometimes it's hard for me to believe how there are things that impress the rest of the world and that in my country are considered "poor people things"; like using zacate (what he calls a natural sponge), I've used it all my life, although it's usually associated with rural or low-income people, but now it's "trend" Edit: and the 'ecological bags' in Mexico are called grocery bags and they've always been used, sometimes the same shops (such as local greengrocers or butchers) give them to you at the end of the year in gratitude for being a frequent customer, and in the tortillerías give you wicker tortilleros* * It's a kind of small basket to put the tortillas and it's made of a plant

As I go more and more towards a less waste life style I enjoyed your tips here. I own many of those very items you use which makes me happy that people are waking up to the fact we need to move towards a zero waste life-style to help save this blue and green gem of a planet. Just a tip for you, instead of those plastic containers you could use mason jars that you get from the market and buy in bulk the baking soda and store them in the mason jars. I put little labels on mine also in my tiny pantry. You can also buy a coffee tumbler that is not plastic also. :) I saw your precious daughter holding a praying mantis on her hand I hope you put the praying mantis back in the garden very carefully they're so good and beneficial insects.

I didn't see anyone else mention this, but essential oils are flammable, and adding them to dryer balls is a fire hazard.

@@CaptJackPal i usually just spray them with a perfume before putting them in my drawer. if not, there are some small balls that are perfumed to let them sit in the drawer and all your clothes smell nice! and it lasts longer than the other two methods

So beautiful to watch and some great tips! I wondered why you don’t hang your washing outside to dry though?

I don't know why these videos are such a pleasure to watch, though I wouldn't usually admire watching anyone doing their dishes, or making tomato puree in real life. :)

Great video !! The water you use when you clean vegetables or do your dishes, can be collected and used for plants :) When I use water, I have a jar in my skink to collect the excess water and the evening I water my plants with it :D
