thank you mr grimes for replying to my comments.i totaly agree with your views. way back when i first started learning martial arts i was disilliosioned by the the instructor karate.he told us that in lower block the forearm should be 3 jnches above knee in upper block same above head.however in our defense practice its hard to appy since the strike did not follow the same path i had prsctice so i quit sensing there is something inhrently wrong with the instruction.till these day i am still trying to find ways to make my low block flexible to met the avariety of low punches.i observe your kenpo and feels that the style will fix the problem

I was always taught to learn the system as it is, but I also have to learn how to make it work for me

I've done "marathon" kata before. I find from personal experience it's easier to start with the more advanced forms first so that as you get tired the forms get easier and shorter. Running them this way starting easy to more difficult becomes a great exercise in mental focus. It's a brutal physical endurance test.

That's a great strategy

@@TheGrimesfactor I'm not sure if you are familiar with World Karate Day. A dojo in Okinawa established a 100 Kata Challenge every year on October 25. Perform 100 iterations of kata, whether one kata 100 times or 5 kata 20 times, etc. I've done it for the past 3 years in a row. It usually takes me about 4 hours. I'm trying to beat my personal time but it's incredibly physically demanding, especially with more advanced forms.

@@TheGrimesfactor I highly recommend trying it with your classes. It is a great team building exercise and a hell of a lot of fun. It's good for beginners to really learn a form or for advanced to work on nuances of forms.

Sensei.. sensei 🥋 excuse my ignorance but i thought more intensity-speed was needed. Plus the way I’ve learned them was to keep the same height as you perform them! Or at least try. Thanks for the video

You are right. I was just going through the Katas for exercise not example or performance. Thanks for the comment
