Diamond is gone but they have a north / south connection to service Honda America and another spur goes through Peoria to the power station. I have very fond memories of trainwatching in Marion back when I was a grad student at Ohio State. It was pretty insane watching the sheer level of traffic go by the junctions, and the restored junction tower was a lot of fun to visit (and provided great views of the tracks). Only real problem was a lack of bathrooms near the junction, and when you live with Crohn's that's a MAJOR issue, so I didn't get to come out near as often as I wanted to.
@ArchTeryx00 Жыл бұрын
@desmondnolastname2663 They might have. Back when I was there the only bathrooms available were at the model railroad clubhouse, and when that was closed, you had to go into one of the nearby businesses - who were quite reluctant to allow anyone to use their bathrooms outside of (local) customers. Where are the new bathrooms located? Heaven only knows I wished I'd known they put some in!

Oh my! That was a lot of liquid on rails. That train was over 13,000’. One locomotive for each 1000’. That was an impressive video. Marion is nothing like the boonies on the Cincinnati Eastern. They don’t own enough track for a train this long, and I know they don’t own 13 engines! I heard they were switching grain cars into a siding, and asked if you could couple your pick up to help with one of their jobs. Are you on their payroll? Should be. What a hotbed of commerce that short line is. Takes all kinds. America is a railroad buffet. I love the sounds of the trains, and you don’t say a word till the end. Marvelous. Great touch. I enjoy your videos very much. Haven’t heard “they emptied the yard on that one!” lately. What’s the hurry? Classic Jaw Tooth. A legend of railfanning. Thanks for your love of RR’s.

Thank you for documenting these trains at Marion, Ohio on 28 June 2022, Jaw Tooth! Those Progress Rail Leasing locomotives looked new but I think that was just cosmetic since Norfolk Southern probably painted out their logo on the sides of the locomotives before selling them to Progress Leasing. I wonder where the Progress Rail locomotives were going. Progress Rail is headquartered in Alabama but they have some kind of facilities in East Chicago, Indiana and McCook, Illinois. I wonder why that sign at the railroad crossing said that the crossing would be closed starting on May 22, 2022 was still there is you captured the trains in this video on 28 June 2022? The former Pan Am boxcar was a nice catch.

@@beverlymichael5830 Jaw Tooth captured the Norfolk Southern train on 28 June 2022. If the photo printed in the newspaper after the 28th of June, there is a good chance that some of these locomotives could be in the photo. Are the locomotive numbers readable in the newspaper photo? The first 3 locos are easy to identify, but the 10 following bear the the mark PRLX for Progress Rail. The SD70ACUs were rebuilt from SD70Macs beginning in 2015 by NS anf Progress Rail, and continue to be rebuilt today. Judging from the base color, NS may be taking possession of those extra 10 units. What a video! That was something that there was that Pan Am boxcar on that first train. You would think that the car would have been repainted or scrapped by now. Back in the 80s I had applied for a job working for the security force protecting the Kennedy Space Center. It was a contract that Pan Am World Services , a remnant of the old airline, had to serve the center out on the working part where the launch pads were. Even though the security force wwas private they were no joke. The officers wore BDUs, carried a full pop M-16 and a semi auto handgun sidearm and these people were authorized to kill those who dared to try to enter the restricted areas. Big red signs said: "Deadly Use of Force is Authorized Beyond This Point." I didn't get the job. Excellent video catching the train crossing the double diamond.
