Years ago I had got the same for my son and he absolutely loved it. So I got him a 50 pack of the shells and a 100 pack of darts. Then I sewed him a slink with loops for ammo and a bandolier for even more ammo.

I've found that you can actually 3d print the shells, and, without the central rib, they actually seem to work better, in my nephew's bumblebee shotgun that was mine when I was like 9. That means that that blaster is 13 years old and still getting sticky darts stuck to the windows.

I remember this one. I was trying to play with it and accidentally snapped the string you see in the open chamber. Its a small braid of nylon that makes the gun completely useless if you break it.

So the Double Fire is the newer one, no shells, at Walmart for 10 Canadian - I did a mod guide on making it shoot 4 half darts at once - it’s superior to this one I would say, I just think shells are neat

They make a bolt action gun like this that shoots these shells out of a detachable magazine but the main problem with these is losing the shells and like you said the sealing isn’t optimal. I kind of wish the nerf would start using half darts because they’re cheaper to make and have better ballistic performance.

I have the Rapid Fire Tek (The lever action a the end), though it broke recently, but because of the stiff screws, the tension springs, and the special plunger mechanism, it's nigh-impossible to fix. Thing is, I know exactly what broke and it's easy to fix :(. Plus it's decommissioned, and there are none fr sale online, you have to find them in thrift stores

This was the first "nerf gun" i ever owned, it was the old green yellow and orange paint scheme. Man i would run around for hours in my backyard playing cowboy. I remember shooting all my darts onto the roof and crying, and realizing my actions have consequences. I owe so many memories to this beautiful blaster

I had one similar to this (it was a side my side rather than over under). I loved that thing and it lasted an incredible amount of time, I believe close to 7 years. And when it broke, it went out in a blaze of glory. I unlatched it and it just fell in two, still managing to eject the shells.

You can improve the seal by sticking a thin Eva Foam disc in the back of the Shell with a hole in it
