Best one I've seen... just the basic, stripped down tom part without the various flavorings of other drummers so we can get the basics and build on own
@samroundmusic3 жыл бұрын
Thanks!! Yeah, this is the basic figure which is built upon. Often Gene would put in a slight variation for the third repeat (bars 7 and 8) leading back into a new 8 measure phrase

Thanks for sharing. Could you answer a question for a non-drummer? Why do you hold the stick the other way around with your left hand? Thanks in advance for educating a bass player.
@samroundmusic3 жыл бұрын
Because I mostly play traditional grip, the best way for me to flip the stick into matched grip is to have the stick backwards in my matched grip. If you watch old videos of Gene Krupa or Buddy Rich, you'll see they do the same thing. I wasn't using traditional grip in this video so it wasn't entirely necessary to have the stick flipped. Thanks for your question though :)

There are two main ways to hold the left stick and it mostly just depends on what you are comfortable with
@antoniopena4653 Жыл бұрын
Also, playing with the back of the stick gives the floor tom more definition on the accents.

Why is his his stick the wrong way around
@NiRo_90125Ай бұрын
Because using the butt end of the stick will give more attack and a slightly fatter sound.

What’s your sequence? Another guy has RLLRRRL I couldn’t follow yours, but it sounded better.
@samroundmusic7 ай бұрын
I'm basically playing single strokes (RLRL etc.), but ghosting the notes in between the accents. Herlps to keep the flow of the groove
