No matter where and how big your garden is, pests are the most annoying and difficult problems. Today I want to focus more on minimizing chemical interventions and maximizing natural and preventative practices to control pests.

Last year, I started growing a small vegetable garden on my balcony and a little bit of vegetables in a rented field based on your videos. It's a rich and big change in my life. And this year, I'm thinking of trying Mr. Toshimichi Yoshida's (Kinchan Sensei) farming method. Let's all stay healthy and live a busy but happy life. Your videos always give me inspiration and energy. thank you❤

I also read about ways to fight pests with biological drugs like you do and combine it with diligently catching worms every day and it's really good for growing clean vegetables at home. I love your garden, the colors in your video, the lightness and everything that you have created in this video. Watching your videos not only learns good knowledge about gardening but also brings a sense of peace and relaxation to the soul. Wishing you and your family always healthy and safe

Now that your beds are established I highly recommend using a no dig method and not hoeing anymore - I have found that feeding health established soil attracts beneficial insects and keeps plants healthy. I have also had great success attracting beneficial insects by having a native flower area in my garden - you can collect seeds from plants you've identified as native on your beautiful walks!

Dear Thuy. Thank you so much for another invredibly inspiring video. What you are sharing with us is priceless. I am wondering, with harvesting so much, how do you preserve all these precious veggies and berries for the winter, once they can not be eaten at once? You have already shown tricks with several veggies like tomatoes and pumpkins, could you maybe specify how you store and preserve the rest? Thank you so very much.

Another tip: encourage small insect-eating birds to your garden, e.g. by putting up a few feeders. If you encourage house sparrows and blue and great tits to your garden, they'll eventually take care of all your caterpillar and aphid needs. Sunflower seeds (or sunflower hearts), suet, peanuts (check they're certified aflatoxin free), and dried mealworms.

@@kouleeofficialThey're litter is! I used pine shavings and hay for my rabbits litter and it made the very best mulch - no need to compost first. It can go right into the garden. Rabbits are also great at processing scraps like carrot tops or the kale leaves that were munched on by pests.

hello. i love this video, so beautiful and helpful. I am a gardener in the northeastern United States. I unfortunately have been dealing with the recent invasive species of Japanese Lantern Flies in my garden. In the stages of young insects and adult moths, they are so difficult to squash because they jump so quickly. I don't really know what to do because I have only seen them for the first time this past year. I also faced a hard time with my grapes, as they got black rot suddenly. Research on black rot says that it can develop over many years and once it's visible its only solution is to remove the plant and burn it to decrease the likelihood of spreading. I love my garden and will continue to try with new knowledge every year but if anyone has any advice or experience, I am all ears! Happy Planting come spring!

We've had great success using soapnut water for our orchard trees and squashes. The leaves were healthier and the saponins repelled pests and fungus. A bonus is that it makes a wonderful body and face cleanser. It's incredibly gentle for our sensitive skin. I mix it with homemade lactic acid bacteria, which is a natural preservative, to stop it from developing mold in the fridge.

@@ls7126 I use rice water rinse, then ferment it for a few days, then add to a half gallon of organic whole milk. The bacteria from the rice water will feed off the sugars in the milk. They will make curds, which we feed to our chickens, and the middle layer liquid is the lactic acid bacteria we're looking for. I haven't tried making it vegan. I use the lactic acid bacteria in my probiotic rose water spray after showers/baths, for the garden, house plants, as a natural preservative in creams and soupnut water, drops of it in our drinking water and pet water...

My late father loved his garden. Self taught by reading books ( no internet then) & talking to the gardeners at nurseries & parks. He dealt with clay soil, snow, ice & storms ( sun too) to create it from scratch. It was both beautiful & fed us well. I suspect that he would have loved this vlog & agreed with much of what you say.☺️

Hey. I admire your account so much! I was wondering if you could recommend some of gardening books/books about homemaking/old ways of doing etc..? I am new mom-will move soon to a house and I'd like to inform myself asmuch as ppssible but I don't know what literature is good about these subjects. Thank you 🤍
