Before I go out, I fill a small bottle with dish soap and warm water, and pack a towel. Having clean hands makes a huge difference in general morale, and it stops your gear getting covered in horrible fishy gunk between casts.
@ibana84492 жыл бұрын
I carry a small canvas bucket with a throwing line, so I can wash my hands if say on the pier or rock edges. Always have wipes and the means to wash my hands in the car for my return drive home.

Cracking video as always what I've come up with with them tip lights is get some stainless wire cut a length just over a foot long thread a plastic lolly pop stick on the wire .. there a little hole in the plastic lolly pop stick pull loop your wire through that so it stays on the wire firm .. clip your tip light on that .. and on the other end of the wire just form a little hook .. when you cast out and you put your rod in the stand just hook it on an eye on the tip .. when you get a bite it dances like fook .. and when you pick your rod up to reel in fish just shake it a bit and it will fall to the ground leaving you free to reel in .. no crack offs with line wrapping round the tip light when you cast ! Been doing it for a few years it works a charm .. when you get a good bite of a bass our cod etc it will shake it if for you making you very alert .. even put a bell on the end below the tip light to .. great to let you know you've got a bite and your not doing everyone head in with a jingling bell 😂.. once you get used to this it's the dogs trust me I've got my mates doing the same they love it .. tight lines 👍🏻

Rods are a very personal thing and it's all about finding the one that suits you best. I have tried so many rods over the years and eventually found what feels right for me. The rods I have now are a pleasure to use every time I fish. I also have rods for lighter and heavier fishing but my favourites will cover most situations. My advise to anyone is ignore the sales pitches and the price tags, just try as many as you can and find your ideal rod. You wouldn't buy a car without a test drive so make sure you test drive a few rods.
@UnseenSpirit2 жыл бұрын
What do you look for? For me, I've bought them all on line. I'm a newbie in relative terms and read reviews. I'd definitely like to test rods for how they feel while casting but can't for obvious reasons lol
@mumtazzafar15762 жыл бұрын
How can you test drive a rod. On the other hand you can test drive a car A.tackle shop would probably let check the rod and in some cases might let you feel it with the reel on But they wont let you cast it with a lead and until you do that I dont think you can tell. I have 2 sonik Vader xs 14ft beach caster and I really like them . I just bought them as they were cheap but they turned out to be very good.

I picked up a pair of sonik sk3 xtr 13ft F/S rods last week. Sold mine 8 years ago to get a psir of afaw 6&baits, which i love by the way. Been trying to find the xtr’s again for 3 years without much luck until randomly a guy messaged me saying he had a pair for sale in my home town. Only been used 3 or 4 times when he goes in holiday so were in mint condition. Paid £100 for both. To say im buzzing is a understatement 😃

I have a $500+ surf rod that works amazingly well but my main complaint is just like you have said... getting the reel seat tightened up. Not only that but just keeping it snugged up. It slowly works itself loose and every few casts I have to retighten it. I think it's mainly a result of the wide thread pattern they used on the thing... if they used a finer thread it would hold much more securely.
@SlippyLimpets2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think the problem is that expensive rods manufacturers have bespoke blanks and so the off the shelf reel seats don't fit.
