Born in Nepal and raised in India, he has spent over 40 years without ever feeling a true sense of home-a sentiment shared by many Tibetans in exile. Despite-or perhaps because of-this lack of rootedness, Karma has dedicated his career to highlighting the Tibetan struggle through art. His pieces, which have been exhibited globally, offer powerful reflections on Tibetan identity, resilience, and the ongoing oppression in Tibet.
Through his art, Karma advocates for the Tibetan cause, striving to keep Tibet’s rich culture, history, and pressing issues in the global consciousness. As a refugee who has never experienced Tibet firsthand, he channels his longing for home into his art, bridging the personal and political aspect to connect with both Tibetans and a broader international audience. Karma’s work serves not only as a form of personal expression but also as a message to the Tibetan community and future generations, encouraging them to remember their heritage and continue the struggle for a free and peaceful Tibet.
