I don't have pigment paste and use acrylic paints all the time to color my resin. I accidentally discovered this same effect a few weeks ago when I drizzled blue into clear as an afterthought. Then squiggled designs. I thought it would be a huge fail, but turned out to be a lovely surprise and design!!

Oh, Julie, this is so exciting to see we can use acrylic inks instead of white pigment paste! What a great alternative to try out...woo-HOO, as you say. 😊 Fingers, toes, and eyes all crossed for luck. 😅 WOWWWW! 😲 These are *wonderful*, girl! ❤ *They.are.gorgeous!* I LOVE the gorgeous green and I am amazed at how wonderfully the acrylic ink worked! The white blooms are so lovely! That pink one is fabulous, too! 🌸 Am so excited to see what other experiments you come up with. Yes, I love that mold very much. ❤ *sigh* Yes, PLEASE use the acrylic ink agsin, and again! P.S. I obediently chanted, "in...wipe...in...wipe" with you AND counted down! Hope that helped! 😄 No, don't throw away the one with the fly hole! I'll take it!

Liquitex also makes acrylic inks, I believe. And some of the India inks are also acrylic based. I have Dr phil Martin's brands. The main thing I am cautious of is that acrylics can cause the resin to cure much faster. I do love the results you got, and now I want to see how the other colors work.

Julie, when you put sparkles in the center it would be so nice if you didn’t pipe over the center so that the sparkle center is visible on both sides.

Beautiful julie...very pretty. Interesting you mentioned your alcohol ink was leaving "skins" as mine (same brand) has started doing that, I thought it was maybe because it got cold but you are working in summer heat so that's blown that theory out the window...ummm interesting! Thanks for all your time and being such a fantastic teacher. x
@fairyspunfibers9098

@Sally Bullough Sally, Piñata inks *always* seem to leave a nasty skin. The Let's Resin alcohol inks never have, at least not for me. Hope that helps, some? Oh, and the new Hiipoo (yes, that's the crazy spelling!) doesn't seem to, nor do the new Octopus inks that Julie uses seem to leave a skin. At least, she's never mentioned it.

Gotta give this a try. I had an issue with the resin. I mixed and let it heat up to 41 degrees, then filled two cups to the halfway point and poured the rest (clear) into the mold. Mixed color into the cups. A few minutes later the resin in the mold had dropped to 36 degress but the resin in the cups had risen to 52 degrees. I felt the resin the mold was stll too thin, but was worried about the resin the cups getting too thick. Yes the white dropped. How would I keep the temperture the same?
@fairyspunfibers9098
@fairyspunfibers9098 2 жыл бұрын
@Debby Caldwell I doubt you'll see this, 5 months later, but perhaps others will? The reason your resin continued to heat too fast was because it was much deeper than the resin in your mold, which was much shallower. If you poured your piping resin into wider, shallower containers it, too, would cool off at much the same rate as the resin in the mold. HTH?😊

Julie, is there a reason you wait until the resin is warmed up to add the colorant? Or would it be ok to add the color and then wait for it to thicken/heat up? I’m definitely going to try this technique! So beautiful!
