Mma is what he picked so here we are going on our 4th year of Muay Thai and Jiu-jitsu (yellow belt) and this upcoming wrestling season will be his 3rd season (won the 96 pound championship last year). You can definitely motivate a kid, he's like anybody and he's had days he didn't really feel like training, but you shouldn't FORCE it on them. It's his life, i want him to do what makes HIM feel like it's giving him purpose.... not what makes me happy. I am super proud of him though, kid's a 12 year old beast!!

The opportunities for more people to compete and win $$$ is what makes the sport grow. If only the top 1% of athletes can make a decent living then there’s no incentive for the average person to compete in the sport. It takes so much effort to get proficient enough to get on that high level, so only those most rare few who can pull it off will develop. Most who try fail and have to get “real” jobs.
