@highonepo not terrible but obviously it’s biased, Izzy is the winner & he has a fight THIS WEEK so of course he’s focused on what izzy’s doing well right now, even mentioned what Sean Strickland has to do to beat Izzy &&& he HAS to zoom in or censor the clock out to avoid copyright as best as he can cuz they’re quick with it, every mma channel does one or the other when they play UFC fights.

dam that was crazy fast, even going frame by frame it was hard to see. From being in his shell defending, to using the delay from the left swing recovery (and also Pereira's weight shifts back for some reason, maybe trying to pull out of shoot out), the shell left hand throws a jab to find target and it also parries the expected right, when that jab lands izzy's right is already coming, but pereira still commits to continuing the shoot out with his left but he is already hopelessly behind on the draw AND at a counter angle. Right is devastating, izzy doesn't even follow up "fast" relative to the shoot out, but pereira is so rocked that izzy has time to load up another right (instead of continuing with a left), left hand moves the guard, loaded right lands, and then shot while going down. Amazing speed, great situational awareness and finding the opportunity.

One thing about Adesanya is that he tends to eat jabs. Strickland has a solid jab. It's funny, Kelvin and Strickland have a lot of similarities in terms of strike selection but Kelvin is better at slipping and countering/entries whereas Strickland closes distance sloppily and likes to parry and counter. One thing my coach told me was to leg kick the leg kicker. When you are leg kicking, your leg isn't there to be kicked. Israel also likes to lean back on head kicks and give up his hips (and stops moving his feet) which is something you can also setup takedowns on (half hearted head kick>shoot). Sean has the deck stacked against him but I'd love to see if he can make it competitive.

i agree with seans jab is one of the best but izzy footwork is sooo good he can pretty much just run without running like how he did in the yoel fight. sean has to make izzy carry his weight against the cage and sean has good cage control and sean moves forward more than anyone else in the weightclass. idk what mouse sees in costas striking i honestly think costa sucks. sean actually has good leg kicks and hardly ever uses them. sean needs to give the wrestle threat and not give any range at all to izzy. izzy foot work and leg kicks can win him the fight. what you said about leg kicks is totally right and izzy also gets heavy on his front leg

Crazy how taking a step to the left or to the right, then continuing his combos could have changed the course of history for Alex. I think he could have really overwhelmed Izzy again if he mixed it up/stayed unpredictable. The body punch before the final sequence by Alex was very powerful, and it's usually how he sets up that left hand, he just needed to keep moving but was busy taking pictures as they say. I think they should fight 1x more if Alex captures the lhw belt, but Jiri is the perfect storm of crazy and innovative to also stop Alex I believe, going back to this fight as an example.

WE NEED MORE!!!!! I am so happy to live in a time when the undisputed GOAT can provide so much 1st hand knowledge! I KNOW that id be able to beat pre mighty sub me up off the knowledge he drops in this channel alone, that's without actual fight training. now I find myself yelling to the screen: Cover distance! throw some smoke! Cut angles! feint more, the jab is there lmaoooo

I wonder if Alex will adjust his tance the longer he fights on the UFC because that upright stance is not so great for reactive takedowns. We saw Jan tkae him down on the first first shot of their fight so maybe thats something he adjusts in the future

There's a video showing Izzy training for that type of possum into the attack/KO and it transitions to the real thing. It's incredible how identical the scenario looked.

Yooo DJ that Street Fighter/FGC comparison was on point my brotha. We call it "footsies" tho in the FGC, when we talk about the ebb and flow of giving and taking away distance for attacks

Strickland has a sneaky front kick up the middle he doesn't throw that often too. Outside of that plus lay n' pray/wall n stall, I don't see how he wins. However it is MMA. Anything can happen.

MightyMan! Note the accuracy of that punch that just missed by inches, it was a left sniper jab right through the guard, and he was fully extended, Izzy has insane striking. Izzy had to take some more chances too to beat Alex, thats why he won, all the fights they had Izzy pieced him up until Alex found the one shot in later rounds, Izzy didnt wait this time and treated it like a 3 round fight. Ya Strickland is getting KOed. I want to see what Du Plessis can do...

Awesome breakdown, thank you! If you're familiar with Jack Slacks old killing the king articles, it would be so incredible to have the actual GOAT talk strategies against the different champions.
