I am 71 yrs old,during my father's era and my era we use to use Smith field items,I was put up at choolai near to my house .on return from my work I will buy to my kids .very nice to bring my old memories.

Hello kiruthiga mam! Being sweet-toothed, we rushed to the smith field bakery after watching your video to try out the classic delicacies and since then we have been obsessed with the quality and the taste of the baked goods available at this wonderful place. Every recipe has its own kind of uniqueness and this is just enough to show why they stand still even after 135 years. Although many know this heavenly spot, for people like me, this has for long been a hidden gem. Amazing! Only through your video did we come to know about this heavenly space of goodness. Smithfield Bakery has a very nostalgic connect with me since last 50 years. They were not only our friends but our neighbors till we moved out from there. The current location was actually owned by another bakery called Italy Bakery, which was also equally old and as famous. Italy Bakery's oven was located here till they shut down and sold out to Shankar anna's family sometime in the mid 80's, if I am not mistaken. We moved out during 2002 and have been there once or twice only. Good to see Shankar Annan after so many years.. He has not changed much. Thanks for reviving cherished memories.

Mr Shankar is a classmate of my late brother, Pastor Piriyakumar at St. Paul’s. Decades ago my mother used to prepare batter for Christmas cakes and send it to Smith Field for baking. Even today Smith Field’s Hot Cross buns sell like hot cakes on Good Fridays. Equally famous those days were the mutton puffs of both Italy Bakery and White Field as well as the incomparable White Field ice cream. All Gone with the wind!

My hubby says, he lived near this bakery from 11 yrs to 15yrs during his school day, from 1988 to 1992 he says he used to skip breakfast just to have cakes there, price used to be Rs.2 to Rs.2.50 per piece, Strawberry and Pineapple were awesome it seems, he says he's glad to see that owner after decades, he says thanks for bringing back old memories

It's actually perambur barracks road, Vepery...purasai nu en solraangu nu teriyala..purasaiwalkam oru just few minutes walk daan.. Naanga Ellam chinna vayasa irukkum bodhu bakery na Smithfield bakery daan choolai la... Their biscuits are very famous innum gnyabagam irukku even after 30+ years...
