Took me a minute to figure out why you are layered up. I forget you Aussie's are upside down and it is your winter season. I just came in from my garage workshop with not a dry stitch on me. I surely like our mild winters but the summers are a little hard to endure sometimes. BTW really enjoy the new format.

Hi Roger, great videos. Just got my mill, looking forward to upgrading. Just wondering, won't the vertical and horizontal play you allowed for unintentional misalignment also allow rotational play giving you backlash? Thanks in advance for your help.

The stepper motor are over kill they are massive for a small mill

It is better to assume stronger stepper motors than to waste the steps during machining.

that's the issue with open loop system, you have to use the worst case load. That's where a sensor makes sense.
