Those of us of a certain age long for these days back, what a team but lets also look at the players in Chelsea team, clubs drew from England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales, good days indeed.

Wonderful attacking play by Man U. Law devastatingly quick inside the box. Crerand so strong in midfield. Best just so wonderfully instinctive

"Chopper" Harris was no sportsman. Look up the George Best goal at OT in color from same era and see what I mean.

Tavy@ this was man utd at there peak during the 1960s. What a team they had and brilliant to watch, they all worked so hard. George best was still to get better and he did in 1966 to 1972 he was the greatest player ever. It was just sad as george was only 19 here and at least 6 players were ages 25 to even 33 so when 1971 came so many were past there best, But kept playing. Instead the manager should have replaced them but didnt till it was too late for george who had quit at age just 26 and it took a new manager to get rid of alot of players. George came back after a year of just drinking and eating and staying in spain for 3 month at one stage. When he came back he was two stone over weight he had his beard on wich was a sign of over indulgence and he had lost that magic spark he once had only a year before it that had every one on the edge of there seats. He could still trap a ball stone dead coming at him at any speed and any height, he could still pass with both feet long and short, his vision was still there to read the game and seek players out with a pass that made you think how did he do that and notice that player to pass too. All the greatest players have that or 90% of them. He could still tackle, he could still beat players but he couldnt get away from them, he couldnt leave them for dead with the speed he used to have, and it made a big difference to a player like george. He was still good in the air but not as good as he was. If he could jump up a foot high then now he could only jump up half a foot high, wich even fit younger players couldnt jump up half a foot high becouse its higher than you think to then place a header. But man utd should have won the leauge another two times in the 1960s. They lost it in 1968 to man city by one point, or on goal difference, i cant remember. But it was so tight it would have made you cry at the end of the last games of the season it went down to. And utd i think were struggling a bit to concentrate on there own game becouse if city lost and utd won then utd would be champions but city drew away and i think utd won but the draw was enough to see them win the leauge just by that point. So it goes to show during leauge games i have always believed so many teams at the start of the season that lose 3 games out of 5 always say "uck its still early yet, every team will lose games" yes but maybe not 3 games all season maybe just two games and win more than they draw. So it does count even early on.
