I've been looking for this video! I watched it 4 years ago in 2017

Videos, like these, that showcase the urban fabric of a city are truly my favorite. Thanks so much for doing such an awesome update to your 2010 video! It's amazing how many changes have happened since then. I have never personally driven this stretch of Howard Avenue, but after seeing it, I really hope those MARTA stations are upgraded/renovated in the future. They look awful even for the time period they were constructed in. I'm looking forward to seeing what else you filmed in the city streets! Great work, Jim!

Thanks, always appreciate your insights on these things, and I agree on the MARTA stations, bad even for 1979.

Thanks for showing us around Dekalb on Atlanta's east side. I really enjoyed seeing this as I've only driven thru that area a couple of times from the interstate.

Thanks, it's a pretty interesting area.

Its weird I was just looking up the name of that train yard (Hurley Yard). Ive taken MARTA to Inman Park Station a few times and it was just dawning on me that the yard must have a name. Its not wide but its very long. Great job as usual.
@Freewayjim10 жыл бұрын
Thanks (Hulsey Yard) yeah it's pretty big, and you do get a great view of it from the MARTA train.

I really enjoyed this video. Inman Park is one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city of Atlanta.

FreewayJim.....you sir, are the man! I love watching your videos and also got some friends and family members watching them! I love visiting ATL and love seeing those pockets of ATL that I tend to miss! Why does this road have reversable lanes? Evacuation route possibily?
@Freewayjim10 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! I think that particular road has reversible lanes to coincide with morning and afternoon traffic flow, 2 lanes inbound in the AM, 2 lanes outbound in the PM. Based on your comment I think you'll really like the next video coming later this week :)

Awesome video! On the route to Savannah last year we stopped in Atlanta in the morning we arrived, too bad we didn't have too much time to look around. Will have to come back :)

Thanks, yes worth the time if you have it just to tool around town.

Seeing all of that graffiti and those murals was quite intriguing...definitely added a lot of character to what would have otherwise been just another overpass. I believe there's an actual alley in Chicago that is officially sanctioned by the city, for the purpose of tagging. Nice video! I had fun riding along.
@Freewayjim10 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I have a soft spot for old overpasses like that.

Brought back some memories, as I attended several national professional emergency medical services conferences in Atlanta back in the late 80's, early 90's. the building boom was really just getting going back then, the CNN Center was pretty new, and you could tell even then that this city was getting ready to boom.

Nice... interesting way into town and also interesting to see the transit tracks. I always did like to see the various differences of cities and I must say Georgia State's campus kind of reminds me of Akron U's campus- close to downtown Akron! Nice ride!

No problem. If graffiti were legal, I would've come down to the tunnel, and have drawn an interstate shield, which would say "FreewayJim forever," or something like that.

Nice video Railway Jim. My hometown Fresno city officials have been trying to revitalize the downtown area for the past 25 years. They do not know how to do it. They scare off big businesses and it is just a mess. We do however have a new ballpark in downtown that was opened in 2000. But that is about it. A bunch of abandoned and decayed buildings. The old Del Monte plant just burned down a few days ago. A firm down in L.A. bought it and then went bankrupt and now the squatters most likely burned it down. Again thanks for this great vid. I know your name is FwyJim. FwyBrent sent me over to check you out. But for this video I will call you Railway Jim. =P

Nice video Jim and MARTA overpass graffiti would resemble the NYC Subway Graffiti from the 1970s-mid 1980s when the NYC Subway got new trains. On a side note I checked MARTA's website all of its stations are accessible from the late 1970s similar to both BART and Washington Metro since they already had ADA compliant station designs during the 1970s

There isn't enough room to add another lane without using eminent domain.
