Hi guys, apologise for the audio issue. I personally struggle when sound is like this. Did a poll in the community post and 1K people voted and 84% wanted this to be posted as is. Don't worry, upcoming days are fine, whew! So sorry again but lets try to enjoy 🥺 Find part two here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mp-QcpaLq9ekq5o If you are new to our series, just a heads up, all days have been predetermined and or recorded. If you recommend videos for us they will get lost in the comment section but please don’t hesitate to leave them still for potential new army. Just know that it’ll be hard for us to keep track unless it’s on the final day of the series or in our discord server. Thank you so much for your patience! We really appreciate you and let’s have fun over the next few days okay 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

It’s actually cool and sad at the same time for me personally. Because in 2013 there were only BTS & Ladies Code (that I know of). Ladies Code were doing soo great since their debut, hits after hits, they were close to each other, everyone’s super talented, and I think they could’ve actually be as successful as BTS today if only the unfortunate accident didn’t happened :(

no one was talking about such controversial topics like bts were and it's crazy because they were talking about taboo topics like fighting against societal pressure and parental standards, mental health, following your dreams and classism from debut until now and brought so much awareness to these topics. that's why they have so many fans. so many people of all age groups and backgrounds can relate to their important topics. bts wanted to bring hope to the world after such a depressing point in history so they made a fun song to lift our spirits. they didn't expect it to blow up, they just wanted to give armys a little gift and even a fun, light hearted song like dynamite resonated with the world during that time.

14:40 “In Seoul to the SKY” actually describes about how students in Korea are being force to go to the universities ‘IN SEOUL’. That’s because most of the top universities in Korea are in Seoul, and people think that they’ll be able to have more chances to get a decent job if they graduate from those schools. Also the ‘SKY’ in that lyrics stands for the top universities in Korea, Seoul uni, Korea uni, and Yonsei uni.

I remember really liking their stuff when they debuted back in 2013. Like I've been a K-pop fan since 2009 and mostly liking YG songs, their debut song and the songs after, are all right up in my alley. I may not be listening to them that much right now but I'm so proud of what they have achieved. They really be singing things like studying is not all that and kids can follow their own dream and not just what the adults tell them to be when they were rookies. Anyway, watching this with you cause it has been so long since I listened to their old stuff is fun.

YES SOSA!! One of my favorite lines from this era is “if you’ve worked as hard as me, go ahead and throw that stone” from WAB pt 2. It just hits me in the feels every time bc (1) it is a testament to how hard they worked just to debut (esp Jimin, who sings that part, who hard the shortest trainee period and has said he had a difficult time bc he thought he would be cut every week), (2) it references how much hate BTS was already receiving even tho this is one of their DEBUT songs (and ARMYs know how bad it was for them, out the gate), and (3) bc it’s a reference to a Bible verse where Jesus says “he who is without sin, cast the first stone” Like those kind of metaphors and that kinda imagery was displayed soooo early in their music, and with lyrics like that, I just had to stan 😂

MOTS7 was supposed to be their last group album before they went to the military because creatively they were going through a slump in 2019. But then obviously the pandemic happened and they put out Dynamite just to gauge the audience's reaction to them releasing English songs. And it blew tf up. While the English trilogy is not everyone's favorite, you have to remember that they were just fun songs they released because of their slump. But other kpop fans love using it as a gotcha card like "See? BTS releases meaningless fluff too!" As if the English trilogy invalidates all their previous works. The kpop fan culture is so toxic and superficial that people will use the slightest weakness in an artist as a drag. This type of environment won't allow artists to mature or grow creatively. RM addressed this during the 2022 Festa dinner. I'm glad that BTS is always honest to themselves and to ARMYs about who they are and who they want to be. It is what sets them apart from other artists.

i personally was not surprised about dynamite it might have not been planned for a long time as a comeback and it's just something because the pandemic happened BUT that song was literally my everything during the pandemic they did not just say let's release whatever it still had a purpose as much as their other songs had. bts said it was to cheer people up in these difficult times something positive and fun with all the negativity and hardships that happened in 2020 bts themselves were going through some of the toughest times that year and they couldn't speak about it because people at the time would not take it well if they did speak up about their feelings, seeing every single thing they had made just get cancelled and vanish all the hard work of the tour they spent months practicing just gone like that. and they were right when jimin cried and talked about his feelings in their online concert he got attacked by kpop stans calling him all types of names to this day people use his clip to make fun of him and it's sad. idk a lot of kpop stans don't seem to view bts especially from all groups as humans with feelings and that always disgusted me

I love Dynamite. This song saved so many ppl during the pandemic. About Dynamite they literally decided to do this song on a whim in the middle of the pandemic /because/ they wanted to cheer people up in such hard times ^^ They're very hardworking, and have spent their careers writing songs about all kinds of things, like all kinds of different kinds of love (they are very adamant about promoting self love) , heartbreak, societal issues, mental health, following your dreams, helping others, and just a lot of cool stuff that's important to them, and things a lot of people are afraid to touch on, that they will dive head first into. They're also all very down to earth, and very funny. ^^ This song makes ppl happy. It lightens the mood. Many smile watching the MV or hearing the song and are surprised that they are doing that. This is important. Pls don't diss this song. It means so much to so many BTS included. Ty.

Thank you for sharing your opinion. Actually, as much as I prefer their other songs I am grateful for Dynamite because it brought my family on board. And you just have to read the comments to see how many people discovered BTS through the Dynamite era. I wouldn't want those people to be w/o BTS and their personal journeys. Plus, when you need to just smile and dance this is the song.

Hey Girls! Love your reactions! As a millennial k-pop fan, Sone, and lake ARMY I can relate so much to the conversation! Özlem comment about “Dynamite”, is not controversial at all among most ARMYs I’ve met in the last few years. We love that our guys broke it into the mainstream and proof themself to be able to do EVERYTHING, even catchy tunes to appeal to a bigger audiences. Never the less, once you dig deeper into their catalogue, their lyrics and their background… Yes, we listen to it, yes, we tell our friend’s look, our boys actually put out that that tune you’re always singing, coz is everywhere, but you don’t want people to reduce them to the one hit they know. I Think that’s what we all feel about their english hits. There’s nothing wrong with them, but it’s not a fair representation of who they are, and their work.

Looooove that you guys are finally doing this series 🥹🫶🏾 my only recommendation would be to check out the lyrics afterwards if they’re not on the video. That was a big reason why I stanned BTS back in 2015 after checking these songs out (aside from the hip hop nature of all their songs at the time) and I always feel like their lyrics is what made them stand out back then. The stuff they were talking about wasn’t being discussed so consistently by other groups at the time

One thing to know about BTS songs is they can be enjoyed on different levels. As a listener you choose how much you want to explore. Level 1 - pure enjoyment of sound Level 2 - sound & performance. live vocals that sound even better than studio. Music videos that are cinematic. Dance & choreography executed perfectly and in unison Level 3 - lyrics. A simple translation often isn’t enough as Korean context and cultural references exist. Luckily ARMY have created explanation videos for many BTS tracks. I came to BTS via Dynamite and my fave songs are now their Korean & Japanese songs so on the one hand I understand your dismissive remarks about these later songs. But knowing how BTS always chooses the songs that deliver the messages they think ARMYs need at that time. The 3 English songs are intentionally lightweight as they were all released during the gloomy days of the pandemic and were designed to brighten our lives. Which they did for me back then.

SO I remember watching those when it came out,it was crazy. They weren't the only one talking about society at the time,Nu'est talked about bullying in 2012 in their debut (RM talked about it too). Actually they weren't close to the 2nd generation because groups that debuted between 2008/2011 themselves say they're like 2,5 generation. First 3rd generation groups debuted in 2012 so like B.A.P was actually one of the first (3rd gen is considered from 2012 to 2017). I have been a kpop fan since april 2011 so i've seen a lot of groups debuting and disbanding sadly

@@DifferentlyAlike it is very confusing. A lot of people called for example SHINee 2nd gen but when you see 2nd gen groups who debuted between 2003 to 2007,it feels like the gen is too long. So a lot of times those like SHINee,2PM,Infinite are considered in between 2nd and 3rd gen. Even now,we are technically still in 4th gen but i don't know when it will go to 5th Also there was too a 1.5 generation but most people group 1st and 1.5 together

Sorry I can't resist. "I wonder ehere those people are know". Well, B-Free, one of the most vocal haters in that clip, is still in prison after he assaulted someone. I think he gets out this year. He tried to apologise to BTS several times but was ignored - then I think his last album he tried to post shade on the, But who cares? 😂 Everybody say No is so much direct on BTS' message. I don't think anyone else was making those particular points back then. I think that messages like this also made it hard for them to get respect in Kpop, because it's such a challenge to the establishment. Which is of course exactly what BSH wanted to do. In fact I think that now, it is even more pressured for school kids in Korea. ARMY flex is totally allowed. Nonsense songs ? None. Even the fun songs are meaningful. I hated Gogo and Anpanman until I found out what they were actually about. I hated all their English songs at first, but I realised that those were gifts simply to bring what joy they could during an awful time for the world, and that became meaningful in itself.

Hi, i am back. Good reaction(No More Dream), ty. Great song. So catchy. JK rapping is chef's kiss. When I 1st heard this i was like oh i like this. This one is a hit. Remember BTS debuted as a hip hop group. Their debut songs were catchy and they were cute. The rapline had promise. Yes, JK is a sub rapper. If u love rap and have listened to it all ur life u can see this is cringe. But for us who are not rap fans we liked this. It was catchy and still is catchy. I listen to all their rap and i don't even like rap like that. They all can. And it's been almost 10 years since debut. Back than they did as the agency suggested. They did not know what they were doing. But they worked hard. Going to America during American Hustle Life they learned what real rap is. They grew from that experience a lot. They all trained for 3 years except Jimin. Jimin trained 6-8 months. Than they practice 12-16 hrs daily. They run on treadmills while singing. They had passion. They had drive and yeah they were angry. But they worked so hard and true army noticed. They grew slow and steadily but they always had more ppl then they predicted show up to concerts and other stuff. They truly are a gem of a group. RM wore glasses because ppl did not like his eyes. We love his dragon eyes and we are glad he stopped letting others affect him so. Also, i think he had eye surgery. There is a live where he says he can see us better. Something like that anyway. Hugs. Stay safe! #YouAreEnough --NY USA 2019 Army💟 Aishwarya Kabra said on 12/20/22 SUGA's "I wanna big house, big cars and big rings" is so iconic. He reused it so many times and each time with different meaning behind it. Morgan Graves said on 12/20/22 One of my favorite quotes was when the boys were watching their debut stage and Hobi said “You can see the passion in our eyes” & Tae in all seriousness replies “It’s the eyeliner” 😂. Good reaction(We Are Bulletproof), ty. So catchy. hardcore too. Like the song. Another hit for me. Love their dance break. They got attention for sure with the topics of their songs and their energy. Army grew slowly but consistently. If u watch Rise of Bangtan an army made docu series u will see their progression. It's cool. Good reaction(N.O.), ty. The names of the albums are cute and catchy for the youth. Their target audience were adolescents. They were not aware that their songs would speak to all ages. I feel like BTS started a conversation with ppl and they have been talking to us for 3 albums straight about the same topic. It's mind boggling but so cool. So glad u liked this. I love this song. It's so catchy. Adore the MV too. BTS always speaks the truth. FYI- U missed the Matrix reference in the MV. N.O. = No Offense. I suggest u check out a explanation video too. U learn a lot about SK. Cheyenne said on 12/2021 Just like a few people already mentioned but bts and their albums basically grew along with the members. As you know, the members were extremely young when they first debuted and most of them were still in school and kids. Their first three albums heavily focused on the school education system, childish innocent teenage love, and struggles that the youth have to go through because the boys have experienced that sort of thing themselves. They wanted to relate and protect the youth. Once you go through more of the albums you'll notice the older they get, the more mature the themes will get and so will the messages. Eva Stokes said on 10/20/22 Actually the first verse is the first verse of Suga's part in the first song "No More Dream" RM says 'What's your dream' then Suga says 'I want a big car, big house big rings' which he goes on to repeat in several songs. As the second song "N.O" was not only a comment on the Korean Educational System like others have commented but on something that RM has also spoken about that was he stopped dreaming when he was in middle school and lived a life for his parents dreams. This song speaks to that loss of dreams during youth. Their parents dream of going to university in Seoul (SKY = Seoul's very famous Universities best in the nation). Just an aside as the stairs are reused in an award ceremony performance so are the hands you see, they were used on a performance of "Fake Love" during an award ceremony. They are masters of using things over and over to remind you that this all flows together be it music, lyrics or even props. I think that is why so many are surprised that BTS spent so much time on sets as opposed to CGI. Sets they can use again and for a group that worked with little to no funds that was important early on. And yes ON is related to NO as it is a call to bring it on that they BTS will continue to buck the system and work hard for their dreams. It is a masterpiece of a song and one of the beginnings of the BTS Universe. Just so you know you have now officially gone down the BU path. Welcome and enjoy. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

That is why RM an Suga got so much hate from their forma underground Rappers because they said they'd sold out to become Idol's and were girls because they wore make on stage. Oh and RM go hate from other fandom because he was considered too 'ugly' to be a 'Idol'

🇺🇸🎉 Official Army since 2015, but I saw their first MVs on TV in my city, and I followed them since 2013. But, for me, you only start as Army when you know their names, their faces and voices. Besides, knowing the bare minimum about the lyrics of the songs! Before I was a GP of their songs pre Dope!

Dynamite, Butter and Permission To Dance , the all English songs, were just put out to cheer up Army during the pandemic, and were not written by BTS. One is written by Ed Sheeran. But there is a reason they are so pop and so unlike anything else BTS has done. Because they were not written by them. It’s funny that the most well known BTS songs in America are the three that we Army are so-so about. We like them, but pretty much like every real BTS song more, because they mean more. I’d put those three as the only real ‘K-Pop’ music BTS has done, even though they are all English songs. It’s a paradox. 😂

If you come across an older BTS video try searching the title of the video with the word English or Eng. Armies caption a lot of btss earlier videos so you may find one that has no captions for originally had no captions has-been caption, if that all make sense

I really miss JK rapping. I hope on his solo he does both. I can’t get over RM hair lol did his stylist hate hi, 😂 just a joke. Also for those that he is ugly how is he ugly it really aggravates. How they were treated but that is what made them who they are today which we love.

These early videos they hid RM and J Hope from being longer full face shots because people online were saying they were ugly (this goes back to the Korean beauty standards that the idols were supposed to look like). Obviously, whoever said that were plain wrong.

Y’all… 2013 also had EXO and GOT7 dominating that shit😎those two groups are also still successful and together… just sayin💗plus I would argue that GOT7 and EXO actually have THE best solo discography from members in all of kpop history❤️‍🔥and I swear I’m a huge fan of BTS and listen to their solo projects (especially Agust D🔥)

@@DifferentlyAlike bro… I would absolutely LOVE to see you guys get into some EXO… they’re absolute #1 musically in kpop… plus Baekhyun and Kai have some of my favorite solo albums (not to mention I adore them as people)… if you’re at all into r&b and the experimental vibe of SM production (my other ult is NCT😅), they legit have the best discography in kpop for the bsides… the discography is INSANELY good and if you love music in general I think you would definitely appreciate the fact that they have some of the absolute best vocalists in kpop and some amazing producers and writers from SM making these albums
