This list looks fantastic, will really help me in my first car camping trip! I was looking for ideas that wasn't pre-made backpacker meal bags and not needing a cooler, and this delivered!! However it's really lacking in veggies info, which is really needed for some people to keep things going smoothly. If you have any ideas for veggies without a cooler that'd be great please! :) Keep up the awesome content.

@@yulan0921 carrots are my go-to! They last several days outside of the fridge/cooler. Cucumbers will do well for 2 days, tomatoes keep well for more than a week (but they're delicate, so you have to keep them in a container). Peppers, zucchinis, and eggplants also last 2-3 days (even more if it's not too hot) outside of the fridge/cooler. You can also buy or make dehydrated veggies :)

Backpacking I use a zip lock bag with some Aunt Jemima ( just add water ) pancake mix in it. On the bag I put the water amount needed. In camp add the water , squish it around to mix it. Then take a knife and cut off a small corner of the bag. Using the zip lock like a pastry bag squeeze out the amount needed in a small non stick backpacking pan.I like the 6 inch one from Evernew in titanium and none stick. When the stack of pancakes are done I use individual packs of Honey as syrup on them. The individual packs of different flavored jells ( you get with toast at the restaurant ) also works quite well.

I discovered powdered whole milk in the Mexican food aisle. NIDO is the brand and it makes a better milk, not as watery as 2% etc powdered milk. Also, you should put the tortilla in your skillet (or over a flame) before using. Uncooked tortillas right out of the package are hard to digest. After building your tortilla meal, you can also put it back in the skillet to get some color.

Glad you mentioned the ramen its a staple especially to Koreans thats probably #1 for our list xD. We always make a variation called (Budae Jjigae) Korean Army Stew. So you cook ramen and add some eggs some spam (i know most ppl hate spam you can sub w/sausage or ham) and add some vegetables and aromatics. Then everyone digs in on one giant pot!

In Canada we have a product called Milk2Go, it comes in small 200ml bottles (less than a cup of liquid, a US cup is 237ml) but it's shelf-stable for several months without refrigeration as it is ultra high temperature pasteurized. Very handy when camping.

Not the eggs from the grocery stores they have been washed and lose the coating they need to be stored in the fridge. Farm fresh eggs that aren’t washed can be kept out of the fridge though.
@kriscent15 ай бұрын
That's not true. If you have farm fresh eggs that come straight from your chicken then they can be set out at room temperature. If you have eggs from the grocery store, they have to be refrigerated because they are washed and soaked which ruins the outer shell and does not protect it from bacteria anymore. So eggs from the grocery store have to be refrigerated.
@IronicleseAndSardoniclese4 ай бұрын
A agree about the eggs. But I have wondered about recoating store bought eggs in some sort of oil to replace the natural coating or possibly storing them in ash. I’ve seen this done before but not sure if it was done with store bought eggs and if so, were the bacteria levels tested to see if it worked….ill be going down the rabbit hole now. Also if you like pickled eggs, that may be an option, although again, not sure if bacteria levels have been tested after not being refrigerated.

I'm 100% vegetarian for 49 years. You can get tofu in box containers that don't need refrigeration from Amazon (I had some for a year till I used it up.) Mix it with quick cooking quinoa (10 minutes once boiled.) Cook tofu in butter and soy sauce. Another vegetarian dinner is Worthington canned vegie chicken. I cook some potatoes to go with it. Trader Joe's has some good Indian food packets. Also they have an artichoke antipasto. I cook some noodles and mix in the antipasto that comes in a glass jar. Also, though we drink fresh milk at home, when we go camping we take boxed almond milk. That way we can take all the "milk" we need for the trip without having to take up cooler space.
