I cannot imagine how terrified you would have been...I'm glad you were there they handled it well...here in Louisiana well you know what happened during and right after Katrina. Every nurse I know either professionally from when I was still working, or when I have been a patient at Tulane (right across from Charity Hospital) the stories would blow your mind and I am talking stories that never made it into documentaries

What an amazingly beautiful story! Thank you to nurses - and also the doctors, switchboard operators, ambulance drivers, volunteers, no lesser recognition to those I didn't type out....If it wasn't for amazing people like this - my 4 children, and I would not be here today.....So - Thank - You, to ALL humans that create and support our world and our communities!

@Lee Readman. Nurses are the most AMAZING people! God Bless her, for her service, committment, and what was obviously her calling. And, Nurses are the hospital. Bceause, they are there, 24/7/365. And the the white coats, well, they get called when "The Nurse", who is with that patient, sees, and knows, somethings not right. And, she/he, will usually be the one who saves that patients life. Because it is "The Nurse", who more often than not, know's more than the resident (formerly called Interns).

I lived thru TS Allison & the reality of it was much more horrific than this movie depicts. Hermann Memorial is a good hospital & I commend the efforts of staff & volunteers, but this scene was played out for days after the storm came back to slam us again. Ppl rescued from roof tops, trees, roofs of cars, big rigs floating on I 10. Banks, General Post office, power took days/weeks to restore services. I had the luck of moving from my Kirby-Richmond neiborhood to the Height, a wk b4 the storm. Had I not I'd b waist deep in water. As it were the Height was like an island in a huge lake for days & tho we were relatively dry, had no w/no way in or out. I could go on, but as any1 who has survived a natural disaster knows it's the resilience & kindness of humans that let us make it thru & rebuild! Thanx for this movie!!

For the critics of Houston and the hospital. If you've never been through a hurricane, good for you. I hope you never have to face one. No movie can accurately convey the true horror and nightmare of living in and through a natural disaster.

I grew up in Miami, where hurricanes were a way of life from the 50s onward. My father did a great deal to *prepare* for them though. Was in Pensacola for Hurricane Opal, taking care of my sister, an RN, in her last days. We had to move all the patients into the hallway away from the windows. It was a mess - thank God no emergencies on that floor.

Ive been through tornatoes and blizzards... My town had power in the hospitals becouse there generators are ON THE ROOF!!! NOT WHERE THEY CAN BE FLOODED OUT!!! STUPID PEOPLE!!!!
@Marys_Life_645 жыл бұрын
@@dennisschramm3294 They can be hit by lightening, hail, tornadoes, ice storms, etc. The roof isn't exactly an ideal place for anything. When there's a major storm of any sort it doesn't matter where something is. It can and will be destroyed. Also, you forget stairways can be blocked from building damage and then how is someone supposed to get to the roof. Poorly thought out comment and sounds like someone who's never been in a truly horrible storm. I get blizzards and tornadoes where I live too. Hail can destroy, flood water can go up over a roof depending on how high a building is, generators and transformers get hit by lightening frequently, etc. I've also lived in South Texas close enough to the gulf that could've destroyed where I lived. I also lived in Southern California where there are earthquakes, mud slides, fires, etc. Every part of the world has extreme weather and no planning can totally prepare someone for it.

Really great movie! Kudo's to the Tech Advisor! To the viewers, this is how it's done- in REAL life. It is, in fact, "Organized Chaos". How do I know this? Organized drills, every 6-12 months, max, with a Major Medical Center here, in SoCal. And, I also served on this assignment, with the American Red Cross. Hundreds of specially trained Volunteers, from throuout the nation responded to this incident, as I did, for 24/7/365. It was strange. It almost appeared as if Houston was somewhat lop sided. Huge, major damage on one side of the street, and minor damage on the opposite side of the same street. Nevertheless, I will NEVER forget one client, "Thelma". Fed us, the ARC, to no end. She said to me, "I want to give something back. To all of you, who have come here, from all over to help us". BTW, Canada also esponded with "mutual aid".
