Thanks for posting this video. I’m pissed for you. I don’t know if many people would post themselves getting kicked in the gonads repeatedly by CGC like this and so hats off for showing how incredibly incompetent CGC has become. Grading is subjective and is one thing but those other errors are inexcusable. If Blackstone could just see how bad the Company they purchased has become you can only hope they would cut some heads and clean house in order to protect their investment before it totally falls apart. Anyway, hope your karma turns around in the next batch you get back.

That’s a brutal unpacking. Really disappointed in CGC. Here’s my 2 cents: many of you guys still support them by sending those books to them. I recently tried some CBCS slabs and slab itself is really solid, book description is always actually with all details and on point and the price is not that big as blank no description modern CGCs. The only flaw is probably top logo with grade, but I bet you can live with that. Stop supporting the company you don’t like with your hard earned money - that’s how competition works. Thank you for blind unpacking.

@@MintHunterComics they are indeed decent. My bet is many will switch to CBCS for many reasons: either it’s time, money or look of the slab itself. Or the market itself will force them to, then we’ll probably see some changes to such giant as CGS. You are truly a brave and modern collector that doesn’t fear to discover new stuff - wow! Waiting for your CBCS slabs unpacking soon enough, I hope ;)

@@PORECHKA Kinda what happened with Diamond, where companies got sick of using them, Diamond didn't change, so companies went elsewhere. I'm at the point where I have no problem buying something already slabbed, but really don't want to get any of my books slabbed because of stuff like this (plus, as I've said before they screwed up the label on my X-Men #1 graded a 4.5 and put a Spider-man label on it, then tried to say it was my fault, as if I don't know the difference...after that just didn't trust them anymore).

I've been with CBCS for years...but he even called the 100 "not a 9.8 but most likely in the 9s" in the vid from 11 months ago...assuming it's the exact same trio of Xmen...guess it could be a different exaxt trio..heh. sounds like he was just getting more mad with the grades and started slighting the pressers to me... I actually don't like CGC.. but this collector's hope for 9.8s seems a bit unrealistic.. even for CGC who is much looser with grades.

I promise the press will pay for itself with the first major book you press and send in. Plus it's so awesome the instant you can see the "dings" you've pressed out. If I can press them you can too!! Which is more frustrating, the lower then expected grades, botched pressings, lower grades given then your cut off, or not getting the custom labels, or that there’s no graders notes at all after announcing that they are now free for members…..?

Could CGC be taking guesses about expectations because you sent to pressing? "Oh, this went to pressing first, bet they think it's a 9.2, so lets slap a 9.4 on there."? Grading at CGC has been a little inexplicable for the past 2ish years. My experience was gross overgrading.

Using ccs for first time for perez signing, I’m not expecting anything life changing lol. But I def think they are grading 1975-95 much much harder. Hands down

Really nice unboxing here. Plenty of good books. Well, now I know about doubles but I did send in two Secret Wars #8 which is at CGC now scheduled for grading. My one thing is Newton rings (Newton's rings?). I just received back a copy of ASM #300 and smack dab in the middle of the slab there is a big blotchy Newton ring. I'll be contacting them and I'll ask to re-slab it on their dime. Best to all.

Has anyone else ever thought that CGC could switch the books you submit with the same book, but with a lower grade?
@marvelvsdc66112 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, the thought has crossed my mind.😡 Supposedly they film each book being graded…at least I think I read that somewhere. I’ve heard horror stories from others getting their books pressed by CCS. I’m gonna have to find another third party to press my books and then submit to CBCS.

This is what happen when CGC hold on to them books for over 12 months.. Last mins grading there with all 9.6 and below... Man u have lot of patient there... Me probably throw everything across the room..!!! 🤣

Felt super bad for you bro. Love your videos, knowledge of comics and passion as a collector. Hated seeing you get the grades you got, especially after a 14 month wait. That’s absolutely ridiculous.

I’m finding that CGC has slowly gotten stricter on books that have higher pop counts. I could be wrong and just paranoid but I feel that I was getting 9.8s much easier a few years ago on modern keys, like the ones you got there than I am now.
@MintHunterComics2 жыл бұрын
Hard to confirm but I def agree with you Nicholas
@monksden4672 жыл бұрын
And some people reporting that they getting 9.8’s with multiple visible color breaks spine ticks. There was a KZbin video someone showing a 9.8 recently graded that had major spine ticks. I think CGC is scrambling to get their turnaround times under control and hiring inexperienced people. Basically it’s a crapshoot who will be grading your book. Nightmare!

It comes in waves. Sometimes is all 9.6s and sometimes they giving out 9.8s like hot cakes

First off, the Old Man Mint Hunter graphic you put together for this video is a 9.8 contender for sure. Truly a thing of beauty. And, unfortunately, I feel you as I feel the grades I’ve been getting back have been brutal as well. There were books in my last submission that I SWEAR got dinged or damaged when they were not in my possession. It is really frustrating, because it’s so inconsistent. Additionally, I feel like if the book is not a 9.8, there should be Grader’s Notes associated with the book, period. But hey, I also need to remind myself that I’m in the hobby for the fun of it, and that I’m also to blame for not being more discerning in the books I submit for grading. You’ll get ‘em next time James.

makes me really worry about my SS #1 i sent in october with a 3rd party clean and press which i have no doubt the guy i use is amazing but i just hope cgc does a better job and hopefully aren’t as lazy as they were with your submission as with mine coming

I'm hoping the same for you man. CCS has been great to me in the past. not sure what happened here

Hmmm, something is definitely up! So strange they slabbed books even though they didn’t make the prescreen grade, forgot custom labels on REslabs. & possibly didn’t press or even worse caused damage when pressing. Have you ever been that far off on grading books?

Are they grading harsher on the custom labels for some reason? I have noticed they seem to grade the signed books "better", well, less harshly, let's say.

I have several books that I would love to get graded, but I just don't have the funds to do it right now. With all the price hikes, mistakes, and turnaround times getting worse instead of better. I'm almost glad I don't have the money to get books slabbed.

Today I spoke to the third party submitter that submitted my books to CGC as i have spoken to other users on facebook that submitted after me but have received their books back already, and they told me that CGC have moved to a new building by themselves and have mixed up all of the submissions and the date they were submitted so some are being sent back super quick and i guess the reset of us have to put up with it bad way to run a business in my opinion

Of course on the last book you get a 9.8 lol. Your unboxing has me nervous for my submission(which I submitted in November). This is my first time submitting anything to CGC and I am nervous. Honestly if I get a 9.0 on everything I’ll be happy. Can’t wait to see your unboxing video next week

Feeling pretty nervous about the 6.0 X-Men 141 & 142 I'm sending in for pressing, Claremont remarques , and re-grading, now. When you unveiled the 173's grade, your eyes rolled back so far they were almost completely white.

The days of getting 9.8 grades on 1980s books are over. That was a few years ago. They don't give out 9.8 on 1980s books anymore except for very rare circumstances. Time people woke up to this fact.
@dc82012 жыл бұрын
I noticed that too and it makes me question CGC for not doing their job properly. CGC needs to give a book the proper grade and not based on when it was slabbed. It goes to show that CGC is being a lot more subjective on purpose instead of being objective.
@tradepaperdad88582 жыл бұрын
Did you use CCS pressing or your own pressing service? Could be the long time waiting caused moisture to get back in? It’s odd to me that when CGC makes an error so many collectors blame themselves i.e. “don’t submit the same books.” If CGC grading is impartial then it should not matter.
@sfq76752 жыл бұрын
I've heard very little except terrible things on the in-house CGC pressers. Admittedly I haven't done a ton of CGC but I always use a third-party.

How can there be no grader's notes? I assumed that there was always notes. I guess not? I assume then that CGC is not obligated to provide grader's notes and it is entirely in their discretion whether or not to record any?
@MintHunterComics2 жыл бұрын
I know right? especially since lately they've given graders notes for books with even just a 9.6. how can my 9.0 not have notes?
@ComicBoomTube2 жыл бұрын
@@MintHunterComics In my view, grader's notes ought to be mandatory and part of what you pay for. Customers pay a lot of money for a comic to get professionally graded and the lack of grader's notes can have an impact on resale value. If there is no obvious defect to explain a particular downgrade from what might appear to be a 9.8 or 9.6.... and it's a 9.0...the grader's notes are crucial. I don't think it is unreasonable to expect them. The more I think about it the more stunned I am at their absence on some of your slabs. I wonder if your experience is common.
