Thanks for all your videos. They are at a technical level that I like. Looking out at the horizon puts the eye level on the horizon. This makes the eye level obvious and connects it with the ground plane. One could look into something below or above. Does eye level and measuring line continue to make sense?

Looking down or up puts the viewer in the world of 3-point perspective. The horizon line will still be at the eye level, but the center of vision is no longer on the horizon line. There will also be another measuring line for the vertical dimensions.

Hi thanks for these videos. Isn’t the eye level supposed to be where the horizon line is, since the vanishing point (center of vision) is on the eye level? I thought the horizon line and eye level were the same and interchangeable. I’m a bit confused on why the measuring line is described as the eye level here.

Right, the measuring line is not the eye level, but the measuring line does determine how far the eye level is above the ground. The eye level will always be at the horizon line, but that does not tell you how tall the viewer is. If you consider the measuring line to be on the ground then you can measure down from the eye level (horizon line) the the ground plane (measuring line). That distance will tell you how far the eye level is from the ground. Make sense? I don't think I described the measuring line as being the eye level (if i did then I misspoke). The measuring line determines how far the eye level is from the ground.

Then the station point would be on the measuring line.
