We didn't stay in Miami, but we did have quite the experience with off-site parking. We flew in, met my parents (who were driving), and left our car off site. It was a HUGE savings, but a little scary because we waited FOREVER for a shuttle to Port and then I think we stopped at ever cruise line to let people off before ours. (We were so afraid our luggage wasn't going to get left at another terminal as they loaded/unloaded it at each stop.) We've done this before, and didn't have problems. I think we were panicking more than usual because we were cutting it so close and almost didn't made it due to an airport closure, cancelled flights, and driving through the night to finally catch a flight that barely got us there in time. Sound familiar? ;) But SO GLAD we went through it all to be able to cruise with you for your wedding! ALWAYS an aventure in Miami... Or maybe it's just always an adventure with the Griffins in Miami :p

Booked a cruise departing from Port Miami on Sunday, 2/2/2020. Flying in on Saturday, 2/1/2020. October reserved a room by phone for $150 (won't say the name except 3 letters YVE). Day before departure called the nameless hotel (YVE) for conformation. Was told they canceled our reservation. Asked when, reply 'a while ago'. No email, phone call etc. Was told they will rent us a room at $550 for the night. Made several calls in hope of speaking to the manager. None were on duty, on a Saturday, each time we called. Found another hotel after a mad scramble. Oh yeah, it was the weekend of the Super Bowl in Miami.

This video just popped up in my suggestion to watch videos and I'm glad I it did! Very helpful for upcoming Allure Of The Seas cruise in November! I'll be staying at the Holiday Inn Port of Miami-Downtown not far from Bayside Market Place also not far from the cruise port which I'm really looking forward to having everything close by especially with being in a wheelchair I look to simplify things rather than make it harder.

We stayed at the Hilton Miami downtown. Not inexpensive but we got the park and cruise option so all things considered we found it reasonable and in a perfect location. The shuttle was included but they only had one and it didnt leave until noon. We like to get to the port earlier (10:30ish) and so we got a $12 uber instead and ended up on the ship LONG before the shuttle would have left. Getting an uber back to the hotel was easy after the cruise and all in all we were super happy with the experience!

We always stay at the DoubleTree Grand Hotel Biscayne Bay before our cruises; easy trip to the port. And the Hilton Blue Lagoon after our cruises - if we don't travel north to Disney World afterwards. The Blue Lagoon is right at the hotel and easy to get to for that morning flight back home.

We stayed at the intercontinental when we were there in May of 2018. We left our AAA Cal book is at hotel near the water. We had a room with a port view. I have never paid this much for a hotel room but my friend and I were treating this as a once in a lifetime deal. Well it was worth every penny. We saw all the cruise ships, freighters and yachts. We saw a storm roll into Miami and go past our window. we walked to bayside everyday. like they said it was pricey but it was a stop for the weekend to see a friend in Miami then travel into the keys

We enjoy staying at the Marriott Biscayne Bay. It’s a $7 Uber to port and runs anywhere from $145-$300 a night. We usually keep checking prices and found it for the $145 rate for our cruise on December 15. They also have a catch my by the bay package which includes $35 hotel credit, upgrade to bay view room and 2 welcome cocktails at the bar.

FWIW we are from NE and Boston is also $20 and Manhattan is $40 a day for parking. We really enjoy sailing out of Port Canaveral, and just recently San Juan. Tampa is really easy too, but very few ships sail out of the port because the ships have to fit under the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Notification crewww. Omg yes always avoid south beach. The beach to go is Biscayne beach with the lighthouse. One of the calmest beach in Miami. Stay away from the south beach aka the party areas. Sorry but staying near the port is not the key. You have to stay at lease 30 to 20 minutes away from the port. You don’t need to go to Bayside or near Miami port to get authentic Cuban cuisine, westchester, bird road is the place. You don’t have to pay for parking and you won’t really encounter the whole party young people vibe.

You need to cruise out of NYC Manhattan if you think 20 dollars a day is bad. To park at the port of Manhattan it is 40 dollars a day. 140 a day is reasonable and less hassle for me. But I'd cruise out of NYC any day. Not a fan of any part of Florida. Unfortunately I have to cruise out of Miami to go on the Encore for New Years 2020. $255 for a night for a hotel is cheap. You guys must be cheap in general. I thought the intercontinental by the way you speak was in the grand range but $255 in Miami is affordable. I'm all about saving money in my daily life but when I go on vacation because I travel solo I go all out since I only have 1 week of vacation a year. Go to NYC Manhattan and you'll be lucky to find a hotel for $255. I've seen rooms for 1k-2500 dollars night. My rule of thumb is if I'm spending just one day in a hotel for a cruise I don't mind staying in something a little aged and outdated because my purpose the sameway on a cruise is to just sleep in the room not stay in it all day.

Well I wouldn't say we are "cheap", but we are always looking for ways to travel for a reasonable price so we can afford to do it more often. Not a lot of people look at $255/night as affordable, so we try our best to show them that they can indeed afford to take a vacation. We also don't mind staying in something a little dated, especially if we will be saving the money to use on other experiences. We won't be traveling to Manhattan any time soon. ;) Thanks for watching.

@@GriffandAlyssa Aw man Manhattan is awesome. You cruise right by the statue of liberty. I just don't like the heat of Florida or the locals. I live in NC and it's humid in NC, but even more in Florida. However since the Escape was new to porting to NYC I waited in the booking line to get my card for 4 hours and got to the port at 9a. Either way I guess thats why there are so many cruise ports because we all have our preferences. However Bermuda was the best trip traveling solo it has been the only island where people weren't trying to get you to buy things. Very relaxed island and safe for tourist. I only encountered one homeless guy on the island. Definitely recommend it to you guys. The only downside is it's for the rich meaning a burger and fries is usually around 20-25 dollars but the people are awesome and the rum cakes are good.

Staying at the Marriott on Biscayne for our cruise! ❤️ flying in 2 days before we leave. Would you recommend flying into FLL (more budget friendly) and getting a ride down to Miami? Or would you spend the extra bucks and fly straight into MIA? Saving money sounds good but thinking of having to drive down for an hour+ with all our luggage has me leaning towards just flying into MIA lol any input helps!

Personally, I would weigh the options and choose what makes the most sense for you. I am all about saving money even if it is a bit more inconvenient. :)

Cruising on the NCL Encore in Dec out of Miami. Was thinking of staying at the Holiday Inn near the port. Anyone had any experience? Thanks!

We haven't stayed at the Holiday Inn, but we would just recommend checking the reviews. That sounds like a fun cruise, though!

Thanks for the reply. Reviews I found were decent and it's within walking distance of the place you all ate and shopped at. So it's probably a go. 👊

Also, refrain from flying in out of Fort Lauderdale because it’s way stressful to get back there after disembarking the ship lol

Griff & Alyssa yeah they have the BEST ships! It’s like a 20 hour drive from Kentucky for us though. We’d make it happen if we could make a group cruise with y’all haha!

I didn't have a good experience at Recency Hotel. Our room lock was broken and never fixed before we left. Luckily it was only one night. Food was too expensive for the quality IMO.
