I'm glad you showed both OC1 and Kayak/SurfSki... really good advice.

Did you get some surf time last weekend? The surf zone is always a place to, uh, "learn wisdom". We got rocked this morning hitting the shore...it was fun, but a bit sketchy!
@esteroali4 жыл бұрын
@@ThePaddleChannel yes. But in SW Florida it’s usually like paddling in a washing machine.
@ThePaddleChannel4 жыл бұрын
@@esteroali we get that here, too, especially in the local inlet.

One bad thing about having the bailer open is that if you do end up tumbling in the break with your boat, that's a pretty sharp edge that is now exposed if the boat does get pushed over you.
@ThePaddleChannel4 жыл бұрын
That's a good point, Tony. We'll be extra-paranoid about that from now on, probably. :)

Great point. I have hit the open bailer with my leg in the past. Hurts.

How bout some recommendation on paddling location or does or dont about parking and where to pit boat in tge water.
@ThePaddleChannel4 жыл бұрын
We'll add that to the content calendar, Jody. We're fortunate to have access where parking isn't an issue, so we may not be able to offer much on that topic, but we can probably suggest a few places to paddle and what to expect in this area.

I have all kinds of boards and boats. Lately, I converted several Billy Robello surf skis into OC1 by adding an Ama. The last hull did not have drain holes at the feet. I have ideas how to put them in. But why were there no drains? Do you recommend putting them in? Thanks, Newbie 6 Man and OC1 Paddler.
@ThePaddleChannel4 жыл бұрын
Hey, Mark, that's very cool that you have those classic skis and the skills to modify them! No idea why the one ski didn't have the scuppers, though -- maybe it was just an early model or a prototype hull? We don't have the expertise to recommend (or not) recommend putting drains in -- but it sounds like a fun project for someone with the skills to do so. Or maybe you just go "old school' and dump the water like Oscar Chalupski demonstrates at facebook.com/oscar.chalupsky/videos/see-oscar-demonstrate-how-to-dump-the-water-out-of-your-cockpit-while-surfing-on/281713369802177/!

@@ThePaddleChannel I bought 2 random hulls. . Turns out they are both built by Billy Robello who is a long time Hawaii paddler, builder, and SUP racer now. Thanks for the comments. I have a good idea how to put in the drains so I will give it a try.
