Aww you got me all choked up and teary! Your grandma must've been so happy to see you. I haven't been back to my island PR in 20 years :(. I miss my relatives and friends a lot, some are still with us, some up in heaven. I regret not going to visit already. My anxiety doesn't let me step on a plane. I really need to go back though. I appreciate you sharing this. My Lola died while we were living in the US and we didn't have enough money to go back. It was so sad, and its hard hearing your mom cry. My Lolo died of cancer when I was young. Crazy what you take for granted. My moms village got electricity within the past few years

I know exactly how feel. I've got a little cousin(7 years of age) and he is fighting cancer for a couple of months and we literally grew up together. It's not easy seeing somone you love being ill. My prayers to your family, especially to your grandmother

i feel like i can relate with jarmaine somewhat .. i moved from korea with my parents when i was 1, im now 16 and it has been 10 years since i've met my grandparents .. 2/4 of my grandparents suffered through breat and lung cancer, and the other 2/4 are suffering through an illness thats is not yet known .. im hoping to visit them this summer only if north korea doesn't bomb us .. but jarmaine i hope you stay strong and your beautiful :*
