One handed noob here. Been picking for about a month now. I bought one of these after opening a master D3 and M5. I thought it was going to be a challenge, but had it open in no time. Am currently working on a master 570 but am having difficulty keeping the TOK tensioner in place.

i made a short or a video of me picking the 575 (brass version of the 570) one-handed. it can be done. look for it. i pick 3 or 4 locks in a row one-handed. use top of keyway and tension with your pinky if you are right handed. if you are left, youll have to turn the lock upside down.

How can you tell how many pins are in a lock? Is it by research, feel or just plain practice. If it’s feel is there any secret ?

Put your pick in the lock... slowly slide back to the front and count the clicks.

Soooo, I got a bunch of these and some are one or two pin picks and I can't figure out why either because they aren't zero lift pins and I didn't think I touched them but they were mild bitting and most you could zip open with 1 to 3 shots. Out of 7 locks the only one that was noticeably different was one that had 26262 for bitting and I honestly only got it as fast as I did because I had the key to look at. That one didn't zip or rake open but the others did. Good bitting for the win.... sort of.

I noticed the 4 pin brinks seem to be indexed slightly deeper than the masterlock and abus locks. I tried to zoom in on the key in the video, but you held the comb in front making it hard to tell. I suggest trying the non ergo combs for selfish reasons, it'd save me a trip to walmart.

@@W3OY-RAY I work at a VERY small walmart and they've got em. Next time you're in a bigger area, give it a peek!

I'm new to picking and I seem to have a problem with the tensioner on the number 1 key pin. It holds the key pin up to an over pinning position and if I back the tensioner out a little, it falls out when I go to set spool pins. Any advice? I've been using Covert TOK tensioners (prybar type).
