Do you have regular 2 1/16 size snooker balls too? It'd make the pockets easier, but would give you more space on the table. I've often wondered if it's also possible to make some little pocket pieces that could be slipped into pool table pockets to narrow them and round them for snooker. That might be a cool youtube project.

Strange because whilst the pockets are far more forgiving, the tricky thing is the limited space to use. I think that’s a very good clearance either way mate. Bravo.

Used to play it all the time as a kid. There was a nice 12ft table close to me and I didn’t know how to play snooker (live in the US) so we’d play golf, 9 ball and 8 ball on it. Now that I’m older I wish I had played snooker when I had the chance because there isn’t a public snooker table anywhere near me anymore :(

Yes it is. People don't understand how hard it is to consistently get position when going back and forth between the reds and the black. On a ten foot snooker table my high break was only in the 30s to 40s (4 or 5 reds and blacks). I've recently moved to Siem Reap Cambodia, and there are many snooker clubs in town. They all have 12 foot tables, which takes the difficulty to a whole other level.

Easier...??? It's not even close. There have only been 206 maximum breaks in snooker in the entire history of the game, and only 35 players in history have ever had more than one in their career.... it isn't just hard it is close to impossible. Doing it on the kids table might take me a few attempts but it is very easy in comparison to a proper table. The second red he plays hits the rail about 2ft before the pocket and still hoes in... 🤨 its massively easier.

@Dancindazed im passionate about it because im a snooker player, and i dont think it gets the respect it deserves.... i think it is one of the hardest things to achieve in any sport and because we make it look easy, people who have never played don't understand just how hard it is. I respect your opinion and I know i shouldn't belittle the game of pool, but i politely dissagree, it is just very easy on a 9 ball table and that is a fact, I would argue that every pro pool player would be able to do it on this table with a few attempts. Whereas there is a huge number of pro snooker players who have never had one in competition and even some that have never even had one in practice. I respect your opinion and im not a hater... pool is a great game in its own right. I hope this makes sense to you and you understand why I am passionate about it... because it is very personal to me. I will use just one player as an example, Alex Higgins, regarded as one of the greatest players of all time... never made one. There are loads more. I use Alex as an example because everyone knows who he is and he is the biggest name i can think of that has never had a maximum. Peace and love brother.

@@christianroberts4184 The fact that you'd even have to argue that every pro could do it on a pool table is the point the represents how hard it is. Something you can't even guarantee a pro can do means it's very hard. No one said it's a monumental achievement. This is a youtube streamer who did something very hard, arguably pro-level on a pool table, and you come in with your inferiority complex about snooker for no apparent reason. No one understated how big a monumental achievement a perfect frame in Snooker is, they did quite the opposite. To make it more realistic, a table that plays tighter with tight pockets where you need to be precise with long shots along the rail or cushion (those shots are hard) and smaller balls so that you have more space to play on the table. And also, a green cloth... You can watch how snooker pockets are made, they are tough. And since you would be playing with smaller balls, it would be interested if you tried to play with a snooker cue. Cheers

Interesting to note that your run would have been over immediately on your 1st shot after the opening break out on a real snooker table if you tried to draw the cue ball with a shot down the rail like that (at 00:36), but you could have definitely played that red in the side, and settled for a lower score (and continued your run at least). I'm not suggesting it's a skill issue, but it's genuinely not feasible to play a shot down the rail like that with pace if the pocket facing is round (and you 100% cannot cheat the pocket in this case).

@Sharivari nice work! As a follow up: how difficult do you think a 147 on a full size snooker table is, in terms of a 9ball equivalent? Obviously it's 36 pots, but I think most of us pool players would agree it's harder than breaking and running 4 racks (36 balls) in a row. I know its an apples-to-oranges comparison, but how many 9b racks in a row would a pool player have to run to approach the difficulty of a 147?
@C4rl0s-_-4RАй бұрын
@@michaelwalters6948about 50 minimum I would say! You only have to look at the amount of frames played V maximums scored. Out of all the top snooker players. Ronnie has made 16 maxis in 13000+ frames/games of snooker. So in 13000 possible chances of making a maximum he has made 16. Now if you were to play 9 ball on a snooker table with slightly wider pockets (as American style balls wouldn't fit in snooker pockets). Then running out 20+ times would be a closer comparison

it's interesting how difficult it still is to do a 147 on a pool table vs a snooker table. A century would be much easier because you have so many options for colours, but if you're doing a 147 that means that any reds getting tied up to any other colours needs to be only broken out with the black with a lot of traffic, or you have to play red and break out the cluster while still getting position on the black.
