Chicago has a lot of harbors and the Great Lakes are huge on sailing. I love the atmosphere of the harbor towns but I don't really want to go sailing! 🤢

Thanks, Ray! We lucked out with the weather this autumn. This footage was 2 weeks old and the leaves are still on the trees, many still green. Sometimes we get that rain and it takes the leaves off the trees. I wonder what winter has in store for us.

That is one beautiful harbor. So scenic with so many boats in the water. As you mentioned in a reply " no obstacles" is one of the reasons I like to fly over water. This is a great catch you found!

Thanks for coming along, Chas. I did get stopped by a bicycle cop a couple of years ago but flying along the lakefront is completely legal, when there isn't a major event. There's no power lines so it's great to fly along here.

I only got stopped once by a local town cop who nicely said. "there is no flying of anything in this town" not even a kite. Get real!! I didn't argue. Just moved on. Other then that one incident. No issues!

@@shsechas Hahaha! My cop was very friendly and even handed me a many-times-copied pdf from the Chicago Park District that he thought said I couldn't fly but, in fact, said the opposite. I was nice about it, just packed up and moved to an area where they couldn't reach on bicycles and kept flying. 😁

Somebody else mentioned that little beach. There are real beaches that run for miles just south of Belmont Harbor. I think that boathouse is a restaurant for the hoity toity marina folks. The lakefront doesn't have a lot of commercial places on purpose though. The entire Chicago lakefront, from Indiana and up to Wisconsin is for the most part park or residential.

Thanks, Phil! The entire Chicago lakefront is made of the clay they removed building tunnels and quarries in the 1880s and on after the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. It was decided that the lakefront would be parkland and not industrial. It's practically all parks all the way from the Indiana to the Wisconsin borders. I have lots of Chicago lakefront videos.

Hahaha! I wouldn't be flying if it were illegal! This area is away from airports but there are hospital heliports and stadiums. It's easy to use an app to get temporary permission if needed. Thanks for coming along, Ruben!
