We sure live in a great day and age. Paragliding technology is so advanced that we can all take advantage of some really great airtime. And advanced electronic technologies allow us to get a front row seat on the world comp scene, like we're really there! Keep flying and keep innovating. And thanks for posting this stuff!

Could someone identify the music playing throughout the video? I've tried Shazam and SoundHound, both could not identify it. Would love to purchase the track. Very chill! Perfect for the video. Loved the video. I'm a glider pilot who likes to fly the french Alps. Parapents and gliders frequently fly together. Thanks for any suggestions regarding source of soundtrack.

What are the wooden handles in your risers for? Why do you keep pulling them in flight? I'm not familiar with the avionics of those types of wings.

this is the way to control the glider when flying on the speed-bar (accelerated). It is necessary to keep the wing open in turbulence. We can accelerate from around 40 to 60 km/h. The yellow brake toggles are there for steering, turning in thermals, etc but it cannot be used when flying accelerated. Cheers
@PaulinTaegu
@PaulinTaegu 9 жыл бұрын
Alejandro Núñez These are 2 riser racing paragliders. The front of the wing can collapse and fold under with a very dramatic and sometimes unpredictable recovery. The best way to prevent this is by pulling down and back on the rear risers (those wooden handles on Pal's wing). Top pilots like Pal can sense when the wing is squishing together front to back and about to have a frontal collapse. By properly pulling those handles down and back as needed they keep the tension in the sail and the front airfoil from collapsing.

What was the point of the Championships?
@entelin
@entelin 6 жыл бұрын
It's cross country race to goal. At the start of the day the weather is analysed, a task (a route with waypoints) is set, and the pilots launch and try to make it to goal, and do so as quickly as possible. Generally tasks are designed such that only 1/3 of the pilots will actually make it to goal on average. Points are given first based on distance, then for pilots that make it to goal by speed, it's a fairly complex formula, the more pilots that make it to goal the less distance points are available, and the more speed points.

lol they do crash into each other... there's literally two collisions in this video. The real answer is that PG's are fairly slow and pretty maneuverable, so you can get away with more than you could on other craft. This kind of proximity is obviously quite dangerous though.
