I'm not entirely sure who this video is aimed at. Yes, there are many plants that can be fed to pigs. No, I wouldn't base the feed I fed to my pigs on most of these items. Yellow corn and cooked soy bean meal are the primary items you should be feeding your pigs. They will provided the required levels of calories and protein a growing pig needs. The other items on this list generally lack the calorie density pigs need to grow. All of the leafy plants shown should not be a primary component of a pigs diet. The other issue I see with using most of these items is the excessive labor involved to harvest and prepare them for the pig to consume. The pig owners would be better off letting the pig forage for its own food as opposed to hand feeding these items.
@kevinmurphy5878
@kevinmurphy5878 3 ай бұрын
Looks like it's aimed at people in tropical climates. I'm not sure why the roots that need boiling are there, but some of the other suggestions look good. I agree that foraging is best though
@cdjhyoung
@cdjhyoung 3 ай бұрын
@@kevinmurphy5878 There are naturally occurring proteins pigs can't tolerate. One of them is found in soybeans. That is why those beans are cooked before feeding them to pigs. That might be what is going on with boiling one of these foods.

I WOULD RATHER NOT WASTE TIME FOR THE 13 PLANTS. THEY NEED MONTHS TO GROW. AND LABOROUS TO PREPARE. WHILE AZOLLA AND DUCKWEED CAN MULTIPLY ITS VOLUME IN JUST FEW DAYS, AND YOU CAN FEED IT RIGHT AFTER HARVESTING. SOME OTHER PLANTS MENTIONED CAN BE FOOD FOR HUMANS. SO, I WOULD RATHER CONCENTRATE ONLY ON AZOLLA AND DUCKWEED.

interesting question.
