The NOCO 15amp AC Port Plug makes for a simple and clean basic shore power set up for your camper van build. I couple this with a nice heavy duty 12awg extension cord to keep in the van with me, and a usb power strip surge protector with a built in circuit breaker so I know I wont overload the system. For an added convenience I threw in a 30 amp to 15 amp adapter that would allow me to plug into a 30 amp RV outlet to run my 15 amp system.
The cost of this set up is right around $86 not including the tools.
I hope this gave you ideas for your own camper conversion build, I'll see you on the next video!

At the start the project Supervisor's face was showing his thinking, "Here we go again."🤣 Nice install. Obviously the Supervisor deserves a doggy treat now.

I bought the NOCO 15amp 2 corded plug. It arrived today! This will be soooo much better than constantly running my cord out the window! Thanks for sharing how you did yours. Although intimating to drill through the van walls, once done, that stress level will be gone!

Thank you, I am doing this today to my conversion van using that same plug. There are tons of wires running in the walls of my van all over the place and I was concerned about hitting one of them. I accidentally discovered that if I removed one of the cup holders in the driver's side rear window sill area, I get a clear view inside the wall and I can move the insulation and wires out of the way before drilling. Oh, and I also picked up one of those 30 amp to 15 amp adapters that you show, that was a good idea that had not crossed my mind. I am going to be boondocking mostly but just in case, it is a good item to have especially considering the low cost. I will make sure not to exceed 15 amps when using it. PS I like your power wall idea.

once you did your pilot hole from inside you should have drilled the remaining hole from outside, thus not tearing the paint off with careless burring

Hi. Thank you for this very informative video! I have question for you. I understand drilling hole in the van and putting the connector into the van and popping into place. What I do not understand is this, on the backside of that connector that is on the inside of the van... is there something on the back that hooks up to the powerstrip that you installed on the inside of the van? What I mean is once you have the adapter installed into the van on the outside, is there a plug of some sort on the backside that you connect the power strip to? So that the power goes from the connector to the power strip? Thank you so much!

See time is ticking, and I can't stop it like none of us can anyways right LOL anyways so I got to get my damn bus built! I got to be out of where I am by July 1st and I am stuck in neutral. I do not know what's wrong with me? I think it's stress or anxiety? Anyways I've been trying to find somebody to help me build this damn bus LOL I mean that in the nicest way possible I'm just stressed out I guess. So today I'm trying to find a place to move into until I get my bus built. It's expensive as hell here in Gainesville Florida I'm just saying! Oh there's anybody that knows really anything about cutting wood I'm subbing in floors walls ceiling excetera and you're in my area, can you just like send me a message :-) I mean that in all seriousness. I never knew that Stress and Anxiety can keep you stuck in neutral? But I'm thinking well I'll put in the plug and then at least I'll have Shore power right? So now it's time to plug up all the cracks in the ceiling. It's shuttle bus so it's fiberglass. I've got my eternabond tape. I'm just afraid of heights

Yes, I did that by getting the port plug with two ends on it and plugging one end into a NOCO on board charger

I’m planning on needing this set up to plug in when I’m a campground host. Will this 15 amp set up run my fridge, max air fan and large box fan. Is there a formula for this?
@DonnieDispersed
@DonnieDispersed 2 жыл бұрын
I believe those things would be fine. You need to look up how many amps it takes to run each of the things you want to use. And make sure they don’t exceed 15amps if you were to run them all at the same time.

I plan to live on the road with my 6x12 cargo trailer and while just starting to research how to install electrical, I'm wondering....Why is it that some people use 15amp shore power plugs and others' use 30amp for their cargo trailer conversions? I'm leaning more towards a 30 amp since most RV parks use them. Why did you get a 15amp? I realize we can get adapters but I don't know if it's better to go from 15 to 30 or visa versa? Any input is much appreciated.
@DonnieDispersed
@DonnieDispersed 3 жыл бұрын
I’m not powering that much. Some people have a bunch of appliances and stuff they want to power and I could see the 30amp being more beneficial in that case.
@artest7
@artest7 3 жыл бұрын
Hmm, I guess that makes sense. However, how much is "that much" and what would be "too much" (for a 15amp)? Well, I guess I should just get a 30amp . Better to have too much than not enough? Thx
@DonnieDispersed
@DonnieDispersed 3 жыл бұрын
@@artest7 for reference my power strip will trip the circuit breaker at 1875watts. But yes, I’d say if you are uncertain it’s probably better to have more than you need.
