I heard MBTA might be buying these for their electrification project. That would be cool! MBCR's paint scheme would look good on em'! :D I also heard the Providence/Stoughton line will be extended to possibly Mystic CT. :O

@@southshorerailvideos1122 maby MBTA will buy GG1 #4917 (Formaly Amtrak Black #4934) will purchase it, and it will be operationally restored into an MBTA GG-1, and a top speed of 110MPH

they should sell some of these locomotive to the heritage railroad such as Verda canyon, Hebervalley, and or the Grand Canyon railroad. so they can replace the old steam locomotive or diesel locomotive and electrify there heratage railway since heratage railroad only go 25MPH on a rail excursion.

I don’t think a Heritage railroad is going to run electric locomotives, especially not AC ones. That’s too much infrastructure for a line which sees comparatively light traffic and tonnage I know it’d be cool to see one of them running again, but I think the only shot we have is if one of the few remaining electric coal railroads decides to do some kind of tourist operation for extra profit.
