Baby Wombat
The Northern hairy Nosed Wombat is a medium-sized mammal that looks like a rodent and lives in Queensland, Australia. This little piece of work is in extreme danger of becoming extinct. There is only one colony of Northern Wombats left, so much so that they are guarded by a fence that protects them from Dingo attacks. Wombats are classified as exotic pets since they are a wild species that is only maintained as a pet in very unusual circumstances. People desire to keep them as pets because of their attractive and cuddly appearance. However, it's important to keep in mind that adult wombats can be aggressive and deadly at times.
Wombats are thought to be unsuitable as pets. They have greater strength and are capable of tearing holes in fences, doors, and even walls. Wombats are normally not aggressive, but their long sharp claws or deep bites can cause puncture wounds in people. When they're young, wombats can be incredibly cute, cuddly, and responsive. They do, however, become nasty and unpredictable as they mature. They also grow fairly large and gain tremendous strength. That's why we're concentrating on newborn wombats, but what happens as they grow up? They are vegetarians munching on grasses and leaves which provide great nutrition. Believe it or not, their main competition for food is the kangaroo, but their main predators remain Dingoes and the famed Tasmanian devil.
Capybara
Before you go ahead and adopt a capybara, please reconsider your choices. While they are extraordinary animals and are very tame, there are many drawbacks to keep a capybara as a pet. But legal formalities aside, make sure you understand what keeping a capybara as a pet involves. As you already know, capybaras live in groups and are very social animals. Adopting a single capybara is not recommended. You would need to adopt at least two capybaras, but preferably more. First and foremost, in some places, it is illegal to keep them as pets. In Texas and Pennsylvania, it is legal to keep them, but in many other places, you would need to consult your local legislation to see if you need a special permit. Secondly, consider their size. They are huge. They are more than twice the size of a jackrabbit; they are the biggest rodents. Keeping at least two big rodents in good condition may be challenging and costly, but besides that, they have special needs as well.
Because they are semi-aquatic creatures, you would always have to provide them with plenty of water, some owners choose to create special pools for them. Capybaras also need plenty of space to roam around. It is not a wise idea to keep them indoors, as they will chew on everything they find. Your carpet and furniture won’t be safe with a capybara nearby. If you still decide to get a capybara as a pet and provide them everything they need, make sure you have a nearby vet who can take care of the pet if needed. And make sure to fence the place where

I actually respect this video a lot for going over what it would take to keep these animals as pets, and trying to encourage people to be responsible and learn everything an animal's needs before they get it as a pet. Too many people just jump in and get something just because they think it's cool or cute without knowing anything about them.

I like that this video took the time to explain many of the drawbacks to owning any of these animals as pets, there are drawbacks to owning basically any pet, and sadly not everyone is equipped to keep certain animals as pets. If you're considering getting a pet, do your research and think about whether you can realistically accommodate the animal's needs before deciding to keep one as a pet. Beware the trap of impulse buying an animal because they're cute without considering what that animal needs to survive happily and healthily, I cannot stress this enough. Another thing I would like to mention, and this is more important with caged pets but in a sense it applies to house pets as well, make sure you have everything prepared for the pet before getting the pet, it saves both short term money and stress on both your side and the animal's side.
@ykMMD

They also need to consider how exotic pets from other continents get to you. The trade and capture of these animals itself is often deadly and done in awful conditions. They impact the natural habitat and the number of animals in endangered species. A lot of them don't survive it :(

Dogs from shelters usually have issues. They can attack your children. Also ALL dogs have multiple types of parasites and fungus in their paws, (like staph and e-coli) they have intestinal worms and other kids of bacteria, they release fur and dander, and they smell like wet mold. Dogs aren't even capable of the human emotion called love, they're just obsessed with the food that you provide to them. Dogs are the WORST.

He listed animals BEING marketed as pets, and then quickly described why NOT to try and keep animals endangered by it. I think the only ones he actively recommended were the llamas and sugar gliders. Pretty much every other example came with a "yeah, you CAN call this a pet, bu~u~t ...". The only misdirection here is the suggestion he thinks it's a good idea.

I wish fennec foxes were talked about a little more in detail. They didn't really cover that the fennec fox tends to be a very high maintenance pet, and is very ~very~ vocal. It can make or break having it as a pet for some people who could otherwise provide everything they need. This results in a lot of fennec foxes needing to be re-homed by people who ended up not realizing just how much they were signing up for, because a lot of resources either don't really cover or downplay the traits.

You're talking to a brick wall posting that here. A lot of the people who watch these videos are idiots, and think owning a pet, any pet, is fun and games because they happened to watch a couple of cutesy YT videos. Common sense should alert anyone to the fact dogs need walked, cats have needs, and exotic animals need an insane amount of work. Foxes urine smells something awful, and they're next to impossible for your average YT to train. They will urinate constantly in a house. Keeping them outside, that requires a lotta cleaning out. When they're surrendered, the idiots come out with weak excuses. Nah, foresight should have told them it's not all fun and games. It's why so many pets are surrendered or dumped. People are selfish and self-centred. See it with parrots too (I have had a rescue African Grey for 20+ years). They see them talking on YT, get one on a whim, and realise not all parrots talk. That they need constant attention as a human toddler would. Then they give it away and move onto their next fad. The exotic animal trade needs closed down. We can't even look after our own wildlife without importing more wildlife into our respective countries.

The life spans that are being mentioned, are the ones for the wild animals of these species. For example. A domestic short haired cat, has varying amounts for their life spans. One that is strictly kept outdoors, has a life expectancy of around six years. The same exact Domestic Short Haired kitty, that is strictly kept indoors, has a life expectancy of around fifteen years. There are a lot of factors that make up for the large range in their life spans. Outdoor cats have to deal with other wild animals. They have the weather to deal with. They have to deal with other human beings. They also have to worry about mechanical injuries, caused by falling out of a tree, or off of a house. There are other factors that they have to deal with, but they are way too many to mention. Either way, treat your pets with the love and kindness, that you would expect to be given back to you...God bless, everyome

I'm glad this video says what you need to know before getting an animal like that. For anyone who wants a pet like these, you have to remember they are basically WILD ANIMALS. They aren't a fluffy lap dog you can keep just because you think it's cute. These animals need real care and you need to know what you are doing. I want to rescue wolfdogs one day and keep them because wolves are my favorite animal. With that said, I have been studying animal traits and behaviors for 4 years and I am working toward being some kind of animal keeper and wildlife photographer. You HAVE to know what you are doing. Also that's why a lot of exotic animals (Lion cubs, bears, wolves, certain birds, or anything "cute," etc.) have to be rescued and taken to zoos or sanctuaries. Because people will get, a wolfdog for example, because they "love" wolves and think it would be "cool" to have one but then they realize it's too much for them to handle and will give the animal away. And a lot of animals like that form bonds with their person and can develop anxiety disorders from being given away and taken to a weird place. There is a lot of care going into it. If you get a high content wolfdog (More wolf, than dog) They need DAILY walks for an hour or more, they need at least a medium to large size fence to run around in. Also wolfdogs are known to be more aggressive than wolves and dogs combined. Because, believe it or not, dogs have more of an aggressive gene trait than wolves. And when you put that together with wolves wild instincts it can be dangerous if you don't know how to properly take care of them or train them. That is just an example, obviously wild animals are very different from each other but what I'm trying to say is they are WILD ANIMALS with WILD INSTINCTS. Even a wombat can get aggressive when it's older. Don't just buy something like this because it's "cool". You have to be willing to put a lot of time and energy into the animal. Another thing is people think parakeets or a budgie are very easy pets for kids that they can stick in a cage and just feed them seeds for their lives. But that is far from the truth. Parakeets are just as smart as any big parrot and need to be trained and handled as such. They need a very healthy diet of seeds, nuts, fruits, and other things. If you don't want to take the parakeet out of their cage to let them fly then you need to have a REALLY big cage so they can stretch their wings. Just PLEASE do research on ANY animal you want to get. Even a dog. Animals are like us and need a good life and to be taken care of in order to be happy.

Please dont feed wild animals. Their diets are far more particular than what we generally have in our house and it can make them depend on your food. If for some reason they stop having access to yours, they could die. And worst of all animals that get used to human food can attack people they find in the forest that they recognize as having food. This happened with bears on the Appalachian Trail. They end up being killed because they look to humans for food and become violent if they don't get it.
