Here in this video we will showcase 15 Fastest Starfleet Ships that have crossed the Warp 9 factor which means these are at least a magnitude over the slower earlier designs. We will speak in brief about each ship so as to introduce you to the vessels and then assess their speed in warp factor, distance it can cover in a single day and how long it takes for the ship leaving earth to reach Alpha Centauri, one of the nearest stars, 4.3 light years away.

First the defiant's top speed is 9.5. Voyagers is 9.975. Secondly the USS Protostar, has two separate warp cores, one for each nacelle and a 3rd experimental 'protostar' drive that can cover 4000 light years in a matter of minutes.

The Odyssey Class would actually be second on this list because it has a second form of FTL called the "Advanced Quantum Slipstream" which allows the ship to breach the warp 10 threshold. With an approximate warp factor of 23.

Okay I HAD to look the Defiant up because there was no way that it was faster than voyager. According to memory alpha, the Defiant was equipped with a class 7 warp drive which under normal conditions could output enough power to propel a ship up to warp 9.5. HOWEVER, according to the DS9 technical manual, the maximum warp a Defiant class ship could sustain is warp 9.982 for 12 hours. I think this may be where Sisko's comment about the ship flying itself apart during test drills comes from. I doubt the Defiant was ever capable of actually achieving these kinds of speeds. Also Threshold has been officially decanonized, so the type-2 shuttle getting the #1 spot is also an inaccuracy

⁠@@alanbaker2347- I believe it might have been warp 7 but in order to go to warp 9.5 you had to bleed power from an on-board power supply because, I believe if you went over warp 9 in the defiant class you would lose structural integrity without a additional reinforcement. in DS9 episode “ the sound of her voice”, they bled power from the ships phaser reserves, but fortunately they were a long way from the dominion front lines, at the time because they had to get to the wreckage of the USS Olympia.
