This video made me emotional. Brings back so so so many memories. Things were so simple back then. Lots of improvement in UI has happened since then. I remember playing wolf at my cousin's house. That was the first game I ever played. Those golden days will never come back and we won't be the same people again! 😭

yeah, that was around 30 years ago. I was a teenager at that time, so those are probably the best carefree years we will have. With wolf, I remember my nephew got a new computer with a sound card and hearing the sound card for the first time, even though I had the game with no sound card.

@@CyberComGaming There were so many games back then vs now, a person could make a list 100 dos games that 'stood out' and one would still be scratching the surface of what all was out there back then. What an era of gaming. Been showing my kids my childhood as it were wrt this. And even my 19yrold's mind has been utterly blown to the point he's gotten a passion and wants to bring that sort of gaming back, make them himself. Remember Black Thorn? They were awestruck haha. I play co-op Doom 2 with my 5yrold. Absolute loves it, and he's over lvl 50 in Borderlands 2, he's choosing the older game instead which is certainly more difficult.

Prince of Persia was great. We played it at work when the boss wasn't looking who was me ! Got to have time out when everyone works so hard. My motto was "Do as I say and do as I do" lol. I said to my staff one Monday morning "Does anyone want this coming Friday off work, but you still have to be here? I got Unreal Tournament". Can you guess the answer ? Once a month we played UT on a Friday afternoon. Those were the days, I am retired now so play online with people from all over the world. I love it and this video too. Reminiscing, thank you !

I think he said there were player updates, you could manually add players or create new players with stats you create. In addition, I remember he said you could play lifetime where if a player was injured at the end of a season, then he might be injured at the start of the next season. I'm looking for a similar game to Hocus Pocus but it's with an archeologist. I remember there being egyptian, mesopotamian and other ancient civilation items but also puzzles. I think it was mostly puzzles.

Big red racing was an amazingly good game for back in the day. Warcraft 2 is my number one of that list. I also loved death rally and tie fighter

I loved Big Red Racing, I especially loved breaking out of the water track on that propeller boat and exploring. Also, it was a relatively early racing game to have secret paths and to integrate shortcut seeking into the gameplay. Sadly, neither of those features are as common as they should be.

I enjoy all the first person choices you made. I would have added 'Star Wars Dark Forces' to the list, a must play for any lucasarts fan, and for strategy, i emjoyed many many hours of 'X-com'. The amount of depth of gameplay available in that game is staggering for the time, i own it on steam and its only a 60MB download WITH a dos-box launcher the original obviously didn't need, and how they fit that much in that small of a space is beyond me.

Battle Chess. Looking at the pieces fighting was fun. But I wondered if there was any game where pieces would not just be defeated but they would be able to fight back. And the answer was a big YES. There is a tabletop game called "Battletech a game of armored combat" from 1984 where pieces are giant robots and they do not die easily. The game was a simulator in tabletop format. Rules are intimidating due to its simulationist design. "Battletech fan" channel has a visual guide intended to watch while you have the rulebook in your hands. Visuals allow you to understand that those many rules are just common sense to create a simulation on tabletop. That channel also has a video and links so you can play Mechwarrior 2 demo for DOS. Mechwarrior belongs to the Battletech franchise. Battletech tabletop may not have the fun of cartoonish fighting, but it has the "fight back" component I was looking for. If you feel that game is too complex, there is "Battletech beginner box" too.

Great, cheers for the suggestion Jose - will need to check that one out as well (sounds like a good game adding in that 'fight back' component) will definitely check it out / thanks for watching this one! John 🙏👍🎮

@@CyberComGaming The game is tabletop, not videogame. The original game is from 1984, but the latest 2018 edition has better quality of printing and way better miniatures. It looks like in this edition they really put love and quality.

it's a little funny that older PC games are called DOS games now. DOS was little more than a file manager, hence the name. Yeah, they were on the same disk, but DOS didnt provide much to game developers.

Amongst my top games in stated 90-97-ish time frame i would love to point out: Lemmings, come on it has PAWS!!! and nuke 'em surrender option Worms offcourse, Poupulos (you think of Mollenux as a joke but he did ridiculously awesome stuff for decades), Netstorm (you never heard of it but it is goddamn awesome RTS nondirect combat game), Geoff Carmmond F1 GP2 (aka Micro Prose GP2), Transport Tycoon de Luxe (started off on 8bits but deluxe was also released on PCs) Fallout (since when dose apocalypse mean end of fun?), Stonekeep (just go look up faire song on Khull-Khuum a story teaser for the game sure was not as high budget as Might&Magic, Ultima, Lands of Lore or what have you but i actualy own coppy of it since 97 so its allright in my nostalgic eyes ), Dune 2 and C&C offcourse but its too obvious hmm maybe earth 2140, purely for hellmaker .] (I would mention Wolf, Doom, duke, Quake, but you know those so instead) Jedi Knight Dark Forces II, Original Strife, ZPC, Darkstone (you know how people loved Dungeon siege ye? well this is same concept but done 5 years ahead of time.... and it did not succeed on such spectacular level... actualy i think it may have lost money) Stonekeep (no not the castle management game from 2001 this one was D&D licensed ... castle management game whuh?) Crussader (either no remorse or no regret is fine, origin rocked), Terminator skynet / Future shock (i am sorry for including badthesda, but back in THOSE days they made games that were unreliable mess but quite impressive), carmageddon, crystal caes, PCman (aka boulder dash who had fling with pacman) sorry ill stop i have way too many games in my library and can not replay them all in timely manner .) much like this era of PC gamming.

The 'DOOM' type games have limited appeal and the others looked like Commodore 64 games. Decent games like Simon the Sorcerer 1 & 2 and the Monkey zisland series only seem to be available as short demos. Are the full length versions available for Dosbox ?
