I love watching all of your videos, Robyn. You are a wonderful gardener. Do you think it is too late to sow these cold season seeds you that have talked about in this video, in early June? You mentioned that you used to live here in Sth East QLD. I live near Dulong on the Sunshine Coast. We have a cooler microclimate here, as we are away from the coast by about 16km, in the foothills of the range. Our nighttime temps are below 10 C. and between 14 to 22C by day. July will be colder, unless it rains.

Another great video, thanks. I agree with adding flowers to a garden, including to a vegetable garden and I always have calendula, achillea, nasturtiums and marigolds in mine and they seem to flower most of the year if I keep the dead flowers cut off. They are great to attract beneficial insects and for the colour. I am in a coastal frost free area as well. In my non veg garden I grow the small snapdragon and the saved seed does really well and the wall flowers and petunias which seem to flower most of the year if I cut the dead flower heads off. I have just planted some poppy seeds someone gave me from Woolworths gardening promotion packs. I’ve never grown them before but looking forward to it. Getting a little bit tired of the rain now. Here’s to happy gardening hours.

If you’re looking for more unusual or hard to find seeds maybe try joining the diggers club. They’re Australian wide and specialise in saving heirloom seeds.

Hi Robyn watch out for slugs, snails and wind for delphiniums. I found nemesia diss like cold wet soil. Thrive in hot dry areas.

really would be interested to know how your location compares to us in melbourne. Think i should be able to grow most of these

I grew poppies last year, they were gorgeous but very ugly when they finished flowering. I’m trying aquilegia right now, they are tiny seedlings at the moment, my delphiniums are also tiny seedlings right now, looking very healthy. I have had snapdragons flowering now for a full two years, they’re great. I tried marigolds last year, I had a 50/50 success rate with them. My chrysanthemums are just coming back into flower now AND DIDN’t even bother dead heading them at the end of flowering last year. I’m in coastal WA.
