Rather than make me want to fly in these conditions, this video shows me just how challenging they are to an experienced pilot, giving me the desire to become experienced enough to handle something that difficult, should conditions unexpectedly require it. Appreciate all your efforts to let us in on your thoughts and activities!

On your first screaming downwind to base turn I saw that oh sh** moment where you discover brakes ain't doing nothing. Then you do this massive weight shift and actually ADD power to swing you out to be able to make the glider turn. Kyle, this is hands down THE most skilled paramotor flying I've seen to date. Please let the glory of this sink in and don't do it again.. seriously.

Watching your hands manage all the different gusts and direction changes of the wing was very helpful for me to see. I've taken paramotor training, but not yet had my first flight and watching videos where I can study hand movements and how much and when you pull the breaks is gold. When the wing would fall back, you'd come off the breaks, then immediately check it when it surged ahead... when you were being dropped, you get back on the gas, and vice versa. It was just great to see all these skills come together in a video where you can watch the wing and how an experienced pilot reacts with their hands and throttle.

Thanks for putting this out there, Kyle! Grade A content. ;-) I had a fun day once playing around in a 10-15mph day inland (but not too thermally or switchy). I impressed the beginners on the ground, enjoyed honing my skills, and it got me thinking about stepping it up. But, watching you wrangle the big wind shows me I'm not ready/worthy.

Very educational for sure, to see how that Zeno paragliding wing and you + your motor handle such manky air. Yes good pilots can save most collapses but if you were bitten by a big one more that 2.5m above the ground and less then 10, then the chances are it would have hurt at best and broken bones+ at the other end of the scale, but you knew and know that. Collapses taken close to the ground have happened to very very good skillful pilot friends of mine in paragliding. One lost his life and the other broke his back and had to have it rebuilt with titanium rods and screws. Both were PG instructors and commercial PG tandem pilots. You're certainly bold, that's for sure. I want you to get old as you create my favourite channel. ✌🏼👍🏼

Nicely done Kyle. My first thought while watching this was that one has to have a keen understanding of the basic principals of flight to pull this session off. You clearly do - I have never questioned that. Well executed. I’m also in agreement that at your level of experience, this keeps you fresh. I’ve done a couple of track days on my motorcycle. Why? So you can find your limits. I low sided coming out of a turn at one point and a woman back at the pits later asked me “do you think you were riding over your head”? Hell no! I did exactly what I came to do - in a controlled enviro where I am focused on pushing the limits. Great stuff as always. Been watchin’ too many of your vids. I’m up in CT and I’m starting to use yal’ll in my business emails. :)

Best video on flying on the limit, period!! I was most interested in your ground handling with the motor on your back. I free fly inland in 35km/h winds using a 23m Niviuk Kougar 2 or my 19m Yoti by Flow and I find the wings extremely responsive and I love ground handling at that wind speed but with the motor on my back I don't dare to venture out in those sort of winds as I am concerned about turtling 🙂, especially when it is turbulent like in your video. I always kite for a while when it is border line, taking advice from Jocky Sanderson, "If you don't like the air kiting, you'll like it even less flying" I found your video most educational especially to watch you ground handle basically the same way as free flying 🙂Great skills there Kyle, and don't worry, I won't fly in those conditions 🙂

Handled like a boss.😎 No chance in hell of me attempting that any time soon, if ever. Still learning in dead calm conditions, lol! I think that would be alot more dangerous on a trike, just due to the pendulum effect there - easy to get flipped over. I almost did that in calm conditions when the wing came up sideways. Merry Christmas, Kyle O. and family! 🍻

That looked pretty scary indeed! How much trouble would you have got into if you had a motor out during this flight? (if we can call it that!)
@kyleoglee5 жыл бұрын
Definitely was a flight. Motor out would mean immediate landing and controlling the glider. The only trouble would be losing it, getting turtled, then dragged. Being I know how to disable the glider in such a scenario would mean not too much trouble. Also, the location is good because there is nothing to get dragged into. I've practiced all this stuff before, so it's doing the proper moves, just with stronger winds.

Hi again Kyle not sure if you've been asked this before, or even noticed it mate ? In my years of watching windsocks before flying, and trying to establish a 'trend' to the actual local wind pattern is that if my windsock (or even a steamer) flaps like a dogs tail...BUT UP and DOWN and above and beyond the top of the pole (not l to r). I kinda think that's a risky turbulent wind...?? I've flown that scenario a few times and found it to be ugly :-( so have then always waited out the wind. WOT you say SIR? Cheers from UK :-)

Where do I send your Amarillo Certified Flying Certificate to? The scary winds are where you are trims out just to not land backwards! I try to avoid them now. We have had folks get drug across fields into barbed wire, that's just no fun. In fact I think Will Gadd crash landed his paraglider a few miles south of here and got drug into a barbed wire fence, and he's a bad ass, so shit happens! The most challenging thing on days like this to me is the flare on landing. The perspective is just so much different when you are coming straight down or even a little backwards, and an overflare is a terrible thing. It took a long long time to get my flares and micro controls down right without overflaring then coming down too hard, I hate to admit that, but it's the truth.
