15 hour flight Business Class on Singapore Airlines Singapore to San Francisco Flight Review

I fly from to San Francisco to Singapore on Singapore Airlines on SQ 32. This flight departs Singapore at 0925 and arrives in San Francisco at 0940 the same day. We gain time flying eastwards. This was my best ever Business Class flight experience on Singapore Airlines so far, and I hope I have many more flights to come!
Boarding was swift and easy. I had a window seat today. I received excellent service on board. There was a pre-flight drink offered (orange or apple juice). Looking at the menu, I realised that we will be served a meal after takeoff, and then another meal mid-flight. There would be a snack menu that we could order some refreshments from.
What was very interesting for this flight was that I could use the Book-the-Cook service twice, for lunch and dinner. That means the entire Book the Cook menu was available to me, twice, since I was flying out of Singapore the entire range was available. For my lunch, I had chosen the Signature White Bee Hoon (a hawker delicacy in Singapore). For my dinner, I chose the Lobster Thermidor (a classic and a favorite of mine).
The meal service began quickly after take off. For the appetizer, we were served with the chicken satay appetizer, which I washed down with some champagne. Awesome stuff! There were 3 sticks of chicken satay. Each stick had plenty of succulent chicken, and they were super delicious. The peanut sauce was fantastic. For my main, I had the white bee hoon, which was great, though I suspect the sauce was missing? Not sure. But whatever the case may be, I enjoyed it thoroughly (the chilli had a real kick!), and then I had desserts.
After that, it was time to get some rest, and the nice stewardess helped me convert the seat into the bed. I was feeling a bit sleepy so I managed to get a very nice snooze for a few hours. When I woke up, it was time for the next meal!
For the second meal, which they called dinner (because it would have been dinner according to Singapore time), I got my Book the Cook main of Lobster Thermidor. That was fantastic! I have been a big fan of this Book the Cook dish for many years now. The latest version of this dish make it lighter and easier to digest. I hardly eat lobster while in Singapore, so I thoroughly enjoy this on the SQ flight! Awesome.
After dinner, again, it was time to get some rest. I cannot even recall whether I watched any movie on this flight. Anyway, I managed to get some good rest and soon, the pilot announced that we were beginning our descent for an on-time arrival into SFO.
Now, as the plane was descending through the clouds, the Rolls Royce engines suddenly powered up and the Airbus A350-900 powered into the skies. The pilot came over the intercomm to say that air traffic control had asked him to go-around, because there was an aircraft on the runway. Delayed our landing by about 15 minutes, but no biggie. We got to SFO safely and thank God for that!

I hate to say it, but having had satay many times, hot of the grill in Singapore, the airplane version is a bit disappointing. Not that I would reject it for a second!

After a LONG pause, we will be back in Singapore in a few weeks. Cruising into Singapore, but returning from Sydney on Singapore Airlines, the non stop from Changi into Newark. Alas, Premium Economy, I couldn't swing for 2 business class tickets, but PE on SQ is probably better than a lot of first class domestic flights. My lobster thermidor will have to wait, the poor man's version is "seafood" thermidor instead. I cannot wait to get back to that wonderful little country of yours - 3 years is too long.

I can vouch for the Lobster Thermidor via Book the Cook - things may have changed post 2020 but when I flew LHR - SIN in 2019 the Lobster was available ex London on SQ317 / A380 service. And it was totally delicious - what a wonderful way to travel!

@@sickman112 I'm not a regular business class traveller and saved for a one in a lifetime trip to see family in Australia I hadn't seen for 20 years. The flight with SQ was a totally memorable and integral part of the whole trip - it made it tbh. I have the best memories and it was just amazing to travel in such luxury and comfort with the best customer service. Enjoy your trip!

I have travelled by Malaysian Airlines as also Singapore Airlines. My experience is that Food and Drinks in Malaysian Airlines was a tad better.

Cool. No doubt Malaysia Airlines catering is very good. But I recall they don’t have direct non-stop flights to USA. My malaysian friends tell me they fly into Singapore first and then to USA.
