One thing I can honestly say, this channel is never boring! I think is a great idea to have a smaller vehicle to go to places instead of taking the big Class A. With gas being so expensive right now, you can take this van on short trips. You still need to spend some time in WI. So many quirky places to see, Eric. I can't wait to see what you do with this van. Its very nice!

Most mass produced RVs are just not reliable enough mechanically and structurally for long-term/fulltime living

Eric, about your water heater not working. When you winterize with antifreeze you shut off the water to the water heater and bypass it so the antifreeze doesn't get into the water heater. You may have to turn the bypass valves to the flow direction for the tank to fill up with water to be able to heat it. The switch may be shutting off because there's no water in the tank to heat. Read up on how to de-winterize an RV system. It will help you understand the problem. Good luck.
@WrestlingErnestHemingway3 жыл бұрын
Antifreeze sitting in that tank & lines for years?? I would just remove the tank & all the lines. I wouldn't want my kitties drinking from any of that. Antifreeze is total poison for cats. I wouldn't care about flushing it I wouldn't feel comfortable with my own cats drinking from that old tank or lines AT ALL. NOT SAFE FOR THE KITTIES!!

I remember you living on the street in a van. I’ve been a rv for the last 5 years . I lived in a Rv park for two years and have seen more than my share of RVs. I’ve been around them long enough to figure out that for me a camper / with a older F250 2 wheel drive with a 3500 predator. I bought the camper brand new. No slides , no levelers just a very basic 24ft camper . Every thing works on propane. I use 20lb bottles because it’s very easy to find propane. 15 bucks at Walmart. Basic equals less hassles. My Ford , I can get parts for it anywhere . C & A’s are nice but they are high maintenance. In any event, to each his own

NICE older Camper Van, it has a lot of great features and is in great shape for an RV that old YOU DID GOOD. Some of those older Ford Triton V8's had a problem blowing out spark plugs, if ever changed insure the proper torque is used. I bet once its upgraded with solar and lithium you could live in it (take E Bike along) full time comfortably, no need to haul Tater Tot around lol I have an Onan 2800 Genset that will start and run my 13,500 BTU Rooftop AC fine without any Soft Start. I'm sure you're aware to NOT have the fridge on AC power when running the AC off the genset and sometimes a Converter/Charger may draw excess current so best to turn it off temporarily if there's a problem. I like to start fan only let it run a while and the genset stabilize BEFORE turning it to cool. A Soft Start is good to have regardless. Its been my experience (50 year RV owner) your water heater problem may ONLY be the Ignitor Tip either needs a good cleaning and its gap adjusted, that's so easy to fix. Sure circuit boards can go bad but check and clean and gap the Ignitor Tip FIRST. Sometimes if its sat a long time the LP may just need purged ?? Id guess based on roof space you might hang a couple 300+ Watt Solar Panels on the roof ?? That and say 300 to 400 Amp Hours of Lithium and a 2000 watt PSW Inverter can run ALL EXCEPT AC. I highly recommend a DC to DC Smart (Lithium capability) Charger to charge your house batteries via your alternator when driving. I cant wait to see your upgrades Im an old dude but like your attitude and practice it PLEASE YOURSELF not some stranger on the internet lol Remember Ricky Nelsons song "You cant please everyone so you got to please yourself" John T BSEE,JD Electrical Engineer and 50 year RV owner

My dad looked up what sort of conditions they would need to charge (full sun back in those days), then looked up the average number of days of full sun Michigan has. We are one of the gloomiest states in the union. I think Alaska gets more sun the Michigan does. They didn't sell well.
