15 inch Rodman cannon in Battery A at Fort Knox Maine

Fort Knox in Prospect, Maine was constructed to mount some 140 cannons. Of the actual 74 cannons on site in the early 20th century, only three remain in position today, including a 15=inch Rodman cannon sited at Battery A just above the Penobscot River. Located just off Route 1 and the Penobscot Narrows Bridge, Fort Knox State Park is open daily from May 1 to October 31.
