I'm going to get a little picky here with the number 1 on the list and say that a 'system' of 20 escalators should not be considered as the longest escalator in the world. Longest escalator in the world implies, a single, unbroken escalator.

By all means, get picky with it. I thought the same thing. That's like someone saying they ran 5 straight miles, but stopped and walked 3 short times along the way. That's not how this works.

Surprised you didn’t mention the Bonneville Dam escalator given that it was longer than the German mall. The escalator at Bonneville Dam on the Columbia River between Oregon and Washington. 164 ft long. Descends 66 ft (equivalent to a 6 story building). The ride takes about 90 seconds. My dad worked there (the second powerhouse) when I was a little kid and I remember at the time it was breaking records that was in 1982 but I think it’s still pretty long .

Escalators are cool for everyone except the handicapped. If you are using any kind of mobility aid and forget it if you are on a wheelchair or scooter. Now you want to make one that works for everyone, make one with large steps that can fit a wheelchair or scooter and a pause button so they can get on. If that is not feasible, at least have a elevator nearby and not in some far off corner on the other side of the building. Remember just because a person is mobility impaired, doesn't mean they have a scooter or wheelchair. Distance can be as much as a challenge.

These do exist, They are the same as a normal escalator however it features a moving ramp, although they do take up more horizontal space as you can’t go too steep of an angle.

Forest Glen, which is the next inbound stop from Wheaton, is so far underground, it doesn't even have escalators. It is elevator access only. Next stop inbound from Forest Glen, is Silver Spring, which is ELEVATED, so you can probably imagine how steep the track is.

1740 Kreschatic and next to it Arsenalna (in fact it is the deepest station in the whole former USSR, but it has double stage escalators with intermittent hall) stations are so deep not because they are bomb shelter, but because they are buried deep below the hill. Next station to the east Dnipro is outdoor, on metro bridge over Dnipro river, hight ABOVE ground. They could not make more step incline of the line to keep it closer to hill crest, so had to make such a weird deep stations, by any cost. 2313 its station and sign from Minsk metro, not SPB. The same name "Lenins Square", but different city, and now, after USSR fall, different country.

I used to take the Hong Kong Mid Levels Escalator System all the time soon after it opened. Individual escalators within it are not very long though. For that, I refer you to Ocean Park. Their cliffside escalators are very long. I don’t have details but they might rival others on your list.

...yeah but only after they build one to heaven first. Why?? Because what goes up, inevitably must come down, right?? It's not about good, bad or even religion.....it's about physics.😂 Oddly enough I never considered either trip being an escalator. I've had a different take on the means of travel to get to either one. Right before I'm about to do something in life that could end poorly, I think to myself, what I say or do next has a very high potential to put me in the carpool lane to hell. Fortunately, my actions to date haven't come with any "extended"travel plans, but will happen inevitably because we all gotta go sometime, right?? LOL!!
