Incredibly romantic structures, castles. Much more intriguing than the steel & glass constructs of more modern times.

One of these castles in the hills of Britain, with a giant drawbridge, has got to be Camelot? . Update; 09/15/2024 I found Camelot. Arthurs dad was an invading king. Arthurs mom killed the English king in battle. Arthurs mom knew if she had a son, his wife will be queen. Arthurs mom was only a noble, and not queen by birth. Arthurs dad was a king from across the sea.. . To protect Arthur from his mom, a noble took him to the Kings homeland. When Arthur's mom sabotaged the new king, he fled to go find his son (The Bear) His country still uses the Bear in their flag today.. . Arthur did go back to England. He beat the Saxons, and made his capital in Wits. After he fell in battle, the English brought him back to England's Avalon. . Lancelot was the English kings son. His true name was Tristan. He had a trist with Arthurs Viking wife. . He chose the name Lancelot to claim to be the true king of Camelot. Him and Arthur fought. Arthur is a giant. Lance, twice the size. Arthur kicked his ass. Tristan vowed to always serve Arthur. . Loot later jumped into the ring to champion the Viking queen. He knew in his heart, Tristan would be there. Arthur has not picked up his sword in over 10 years. As the kitchen scrap ran to defend the queen, he looked at Arthur, who pulls his sword, lays it on loot and says - By saints Catherine, Saint Michael, Saint Margaret, by gods might, arise a Knight, and defend your Queen.

Some of these castles were located in pre-world war two Germany (until 1945) when the long time German populations were expelled by the Allies. Český Krumlov Castle is one example in CZ. Malbork, Marienburg castle in present day Poland was German unilil 1945 when the entire area east of the Oder River was given to Poland by the Allies and the German population was expelled. The castle was an extensive Museum completed just before WW2 started and was largely destroyed during the fighting in the area by the Soviets and Germans in 1945. There are many more that I'm not aware of but none bigger or more important than this one with the exception of Königsberg Castle in then Königsberg, East Prussia. The city was renamed Kaliningrad after WW2 and is now part of Russia. The castle was largely destroyed by 2 British firebombing raids in August of 1944, was further destroyed in the ground fighting of April 1945 and the remains were finally blown up in 1968 by the Soviets, who had no intenbtion of ever rebuilding it. Wikipedia often has more complete histories of these castles than the makers of this video could include.

@@karlheinzvonkroemann2217 But Cesky Krumlov never belonged to Germany.
@karlheinzvonkroemann22176 ай бұрын
@@alesanrud3281 There was NO Germany until 1871 so naturally Germany didn't own it. Was it built and owned by germans? Obviously it was. "Cesky Krumlov" is the Czech name for what was Böhmisch Krumau (Part of Austria) until Czechoslovakia was created in 1919. It was known by that name until 1945 when the Czechs took over the area following WW2 and Czechoslakia was re-invented. Try and fool somebody else!

I hope that people realise that the legend of King Arthur and Merlyn (Emrys) originates from from Wales during the time of the Celts.
@embreis22576 ай бұрын
Celts - that is a very loose term. how about Brythonic people? _Ambrosius Aurelianus_ is the historical figure most likely to be the inspiration for the Arthurian legend. the Latin 'Ambrosius' turns into Middle Welsh 'Embreis' and then into modern Welsh 'Emrys' (or 'Ambrose' in English). ☺ but we shouldn't keep our hopes up. most viewers won't bat an eye on the narrator calling Arthur the 'king of England'.
@PBRJOHN6846 ай бұрын
@@embreis2257 I'm not one for arguing, so I will let this one go. It's all I know is what has been taught to us in Schools and other lectures.

23:07 '...and we are gonna finish with a character who was probably fictional but nobody really knows: king Arthur. yep, king Arthur, the mythical king of England.' okay, let us break this down. it is true, we don't have any proof of Arthur ever existing. he is a mythical figure. but we have some evidence of a historical figure which is most likely to be the inspiration for the myth: *Ambrosius Aurelianus* . Arthur is ultimately a sub-Roman warlord defending his land (and people?) against other warlords and the newly arrived Anglo-Saxons. we are talking 5th/early 6th century here, meaning there was no England (Angles...turning into England a few hundred years later), therefore calling Arthur the 'king of England' is missing the point completely. the figure of Ambrosius Aurelianus was eventually transformed by Geoffrey of Monmouth into his Arthurian legend.
