That lizard appears to be a texas spiny lizard. I see them in Austin all the time. They are all around the austin/hill country area so likely you have them around alveus too if you have a spot with lots of rocks, some water and some shade. They blend into woody/rocky areas REALLY well, so they can be hard to spot.

A group of scientists and researchers did something similar to this where they observed bats from under the cave entrance that they were flying from, they all got completely covered in bat poo and were dead the next week from a viral infection caused by the bat poo

I just learned a couple days ago that you can see these bats take off every night on reflectivity radar right around sunset. So cool! 🦇🦇🦇 edit: maybe I missed it, but do we know why they rotate like that instead of just flying out in one direction?

Those same kinda bats were used in batbombs in ww2 XD yes its was real thing, and it was 15 times more destructive than conventional fire bombs
