One idea that is part of a good, healthy mindset is to remain true to yourself no matter what happens around you. No matter if your friends are being fake, or if people are trying to pressure you to do and/say things that do not line up with your core values, no matter if people offer you this or that to “get to the next level” in life, if it’s going to involve you compromising your integrity to get there, then don’t embrace that. Stay true to who you are. Know when to stand up for what you believe in and know when to stay quiet because certain people/circumstances don’t even deserve our attention. When you are true to yourself you can sleep at night because you know no one can honestly call you fake or say that you are selling your soul for some kind of gain. Stay true to yourself so you can experience the fulfillment of purpose and achieve a great destiny.

The mindset shift that had the most impact on my life was the one about finding a creative option. A lot of what is happening in my situation is not binary at all, but I keep perceiving it as though it is. I have options, but they are few, and risky. If I put all my focus onto one goal for six months I could do it. The fact is I could probably do it in less time. I am going to grind until I can eat that fine CAVIAR, and then I will look back at the past and smile because I made it through my struggles and obstacles, and I am now better for it.

I had already figured out that growing up as a Gen Xer hearing no most of the time made me a stronger person, however I didn't make the connection between my upbringing and my constant expectation of hearing no, thus holding me back from even asking. That's something I plan to work on going forward. 'Everything is negotiable' also hit me hard, because that is definitely a skill I need to work on, I'm usually selling myself short. Moving from 'it's impossible,' to 'if they did it, so can I' is a huge quantum leap. Thanks for the mentoring. I don't move in circles that allow me access to really successful people, so I will take any help I can get.

Personally speaking, one mindset that I have embraced has to do with realizing that my past mistakes and failures do not necessarily disqualify me from having a bright future. If anything, my mistakes and failures have helped me to learn more and more about myself. Moreover, I am reminded to not give up. As long as I am breathing, I can begin again. I can start from scratch if I must, and gain fresh perspectives on various things that a less mature version of myself might not have fully grasped or understood. Sometimes we learn more through failures and mistakes than through successes. In fact, if it wasn’t for some of my failures and misses, I would not have experienced some of my moments of success and gains.

Caviar. Now let me tell you how one mindset shift from this video gave me a great idea. I'm operating a retail business in an area that's zoned "agricultural". I have lots of space including large empty warehouses that used to be chicken barns, where I refurbish hot tubs. Storing and refurbishing hot tubs takes up a lot of space - way more space than I could possibly afford to rent in a retail-zoned location. But where I am now, I can't hang signs, and have to be cryptic about the address on my website. I need to meet by appointment only and try to keep a low profile so that city bylaw enforcers don't shut me down. I had my eye on a place a block away that was just purchased by a new & used appliance company. #14 helped me think that I could offer to trade storage space at my place in trade for some storefront space at their location. They could store their inventory in one of my barns and I could keep working on hot tubs at the farm, but our official business location would be zoned for retail, so we could meet clients, sell product and offer services from a small space. Then we could take qualified customers down the block to the warehouse to view hot tubs. Wish me luck!
