Dolph Ziggler was one of the best sellers in history, but I would say that this trait was actually his undoing. He was so good at selling that Vince ultimately positioned him to be the guy to legitimize his top stars. If he wanted someone that he had positioned to be a top star to be legitimized, set up a match or feud with Dolph and he would ultimately come out looking like a million bucks. Ziggler was a star maker, but was never actually given a chance to be a star

Though I hated the way the rock sold it, it was true to his character with all the wiggle physics he added to it. Scott Hall was the perfect sell to it because wrestling is like a live action cartoon with "possibilities" of reality sprinkled into it. Blurs the line between reality and fiction, and that sell is the prime example. Silly, but not too far out of the equation of physics.

The curse of being a great seller often means that you're being used as a punching bag to show other people's strengths. You get to be to shadow that makes the light (other guy) shine brighter. So sadly, the best sellers won't often be the biggest stars because the biggest stars need those sellers to shine

Nic Nemeth or Dolph. You are still my champ. You always were. Literally Dolphs one more championship match with miz promo was legendary. The absolute 5 star performances at Survivor Series. He was always the "Uncrowned King" of WWE. "The Guy" that never was. He easily could have had both legendary face and heel Title reigns. He had everything. Style, promo, selling, storytelling, heart, humor, and a drive to be the best. Not to mention Dolph was a pure Ring Technician in the truest sense. It was the greatest travesty of not giving him a full on Wrestlemania run where he chased the title then led the new era.

So we've actually learned something really important here. If you sell TOO well, you get used as a springboard for other talents to rise, but you yourself never get the proper chance to shine for any other qualities. It's a truly double-edged sword. If you're good at making others look good, you're likely to stay doing that... making OTHERS look good. It's not a universal truth, but it's an interesting situation I've noticed
