Carrie, I am so happy to see this video! I'm so tired of everywhere that I go someone or something wants me to spend money. I just refuse and I agree with everything that you talked about. You are so right about the concerts! It amazes me the amount of money that parents spend for their daughters to see that one singer. (You know the one that sings about breakups. Lol) I love your videos and I just wanted to say this. Have a great day and keep the videos coming so that I can remind myself that I am still normal in this crazy world.

This was a great list. I'm trying to give up sugar and soda this year, addiction is real. However, there is one thing I won't budge on and that is First Class airline tickets. If I can't do First Class, I won't fly. Period. I will give up other things, so that I can fly this way. The airline seats have gotten ridiculously small (and I'm not a big person), and I'm just not into sitting next to someone who doesn't shower, or is obviously sick.

Terrific video ! Really enjoyed it, Carrie ! Thank you! I had my iPhone 6 for FOREVER until it konked out ! And my couch ? 25 years old! Was an investment at the time ( two grand) & it paid off! Still super comfortable. However, itz needed - & has had - a nice slip cover now for seven years or more. No plans for a new couch any time soon! I DO spend $ on theatre tix ! Broadway musicals & concerts are my hobby ! But I know I can’t / won’t see everything I want to, & that’s fine. Finally seeing a B’way tour of Hamilton soon , after eight years of wanting to. Prices for it have finally calmed down. What I saved on not seeing it sooner, is going to a verrry expensive Joni Mitchell concert ! She’s my absolute favorite, & it’s been 45 years since I saw her at age 19! It’s expensive ( plus I have to travel for it!). But thankfully.. I, too save on refusing to pay for cable, plants, sporting events & decorations. I’m not a fan of Halloween. Keep these wonderful videos coming ! Liz

How scary is it that I AGREE with every single item you mentioned! Unfortunately, with the economy now, the fees and interest is harder to manage but I am working diligently to get that fixed! And, as for Halloween, I never liked it either and do not celebrate it. Same for New Years Eve… I always call it amateur night……Since every one who barely goes out all year, feels a need to go out that night….& it’s so crowded, and too expensive to enjoy the evening. A home party is a lot better! Good list ! keep up the good info.

Great advice. I agreed with every single item you listed & have long ago cut out any of the few I would occasionally indulge in, like the occasional concert. The closest thing I ever had to cable was something called "AirBox" for $11 a month. It would get a dozen or so extra channels & you could pause the screen & fast-forward through ads. Unfortunately, they went out of business. With common sense like this, I predict you will have a golden KZbin plaque in record time!

@@CarrieOnCoaching Hello. I saw your comment this morning and thought I'd share 2 personal hygiene items I never spend money on. And I'm finally getting to it :) 1. Deodorant because it's full of chemicals. Especially aluminum which has been linked to Alzheimer's. I've been absentminded my whole life so that's the LAST thing I need! For almost 20 years I've been using fresh lemon juice instead. Recently discovered at the local monthly market a lady who sells a handmade magnesium spray infused with/ lavender oil which I now spray behind the lemon as topical magnesium is more effective when sprayed where hair follicles are present. The spray extends the effectiveness of the lemon juice also since I'm in S. Texas. Lol. 2. Mouthwash because the chemicals in it kill the beneficent bacteria in the mouth that protect from cavities & the like. Instead, I use hydrogen peroxide or a baking soda & water solution at night, depending on what I eat. They also let me wake up without much of a yucky taste in my mouth, if any & brush with fluoride-free toothpaste. Sorry if I come off a bit obsessive with health & stuff. I'm really not. These are things I've gradually adopted over the decades. Have a good 'un!
@CarrieOnCoaching3 ай бұрын
@@sandyshoals7565 I agree with you! I refuse to use antiperspirant because of the aluminum. I use a healthy deodorant only and protect my brain and breasts!! I agree with most of these except soda...we buy a case of diet 7-UP weekly as our go-to evening drink. 100% healthier and affordable than wine. Wine, though I love it, is unhealthy in any dose and much more expensive. We also don't go to many concerts, but if we do - it has to be 1) an artist we've loved for a long time and 2) splurge on good seats. Without good seats, you may as well be sitting at home watching on TV. Finally, I have 2 things to add to the list: paper plates and paper towels. We got rid of both 4 years ago and haven't missed them at all!
@audreyandrea4603 ай бұрын
Pop is not 100% healthier than wine. Pop is junk. I don’t touch it. I don’t drink wine either but I don’t consider it junk. I don’t drink anything but water in evenings.

I agree about the paper plates!! I avoid throw away items as much as possible. I hate the waste. I haven't made the switch yet to no paper towels, but I have the desire to do so. Im glad you have found a balance for your evening treat. And yes, if you are going to spend money on a special event, make sure your view of it is worth it or just stay home!! LOL! Thanks for your response!

have to disagree that any type of soda is healthier than alcohol. Alcohol isn't healthy, but sugar and fake sugar are poison!😢

When our grown daughter and I went to New York 6 years ago, we both bought beautiful leather Kate Spade luggage tags for $20 as our souvenirs. One of her best friends was working in the design department for Kate Spade at the time so it was the reason for the designer label. Our oldest son was living on the beach in Florida when he got married and my daughter in law and I got toe rings hand crafted by a jeweler while we were there and wore them on their wedding day and wearing them still.

I refuse Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Peacock, and whatever else is out there to stream. I watch KZbin or read a book at night. And no Amazon Prime. No concert I have paid for since 2015. $300+ for AC/DC this coming May. Just dumb. I hate sports - I would rather spend the time myself exercising vs. watching overpaid dingdongs run around - live or on TV. My phrase is: I would rather pad my own pockets than those of the rich. I need the money more than they do.

Eeek! I need to maybe adopt some of these as I’m a poster child for over-buying and decorating for the holidays…All the holidays. Of course I’m paying for that now because I don’t have room to store everything. Definitely need to pay down my debt as I pay way too much in fees, etc. I also need to avoid gambling. It’s been my major downfall since my mom passed away. I took care of her for 19 years and have been a little lost since. At least I do a decent job on not paying for fast food, seldom buy soda or juice, cable…🤣 I’ll take the win.

Since in Europe this is what we have been taught by our great grandparents and grandparents who for example still remembered times without ocean filled with plastic particles as well as clothes, cars and pieces of household equipment that lasted as few generations. As a Euopean I had a good few laughs when you commented on ways in which you and your huband are "maybe a bit odd" for US standards and laughed at myself that I'm just like you guys and I have my grannies and my aunts to blame or it.

Winning the lottery would not make me miserable. But throwing away $20+/month would. Phones. My phone was $99 and does eveything i need it to for $25/month. Even the cameras on cheap phones are better than many of the top of the line phones from just a couple of years ago. If photography is your thing, get a real camera. Sony makes very small mirrorless cameras for less than an iPhone. I don't pay for subcription software (eg, adobe). there are cheaper options to buy or download free.
