15 Restaurant Chains Closing Multiple Stores Right Now

Over the past four years, many of us have had the unpleasant surprise of learning that our go-to restaurant, coffee shop, or fast food joint was closing doors for good. Thousands of well-established companies have gone out of business since the pandemic accelerated the descent of the U.S. economy, and conditions have been particularly tough in the restaurant industry. Even during the best of times, managing a restaurant comes with plenty of uncertainty. Though a brand can be incredibly popular amongst consumers, there’s a variety of factors that can result in mass closings, and in some cases, bankruptcy.
We tend to think that the biggest restaurant chains in America are better prepared to handle these challenges, but the truth is that many of them are, in fact, more exposed to financial problems due to their enormous expenses and extensive brick-and-mortar footprint.
Both inflation and deflation can cause drastic changes in consumer behavior, leading to lost sales and rendering some locations regrettably unprofitable. On top of that, something most people do not know is that, despite being backed by huge corporate entities, lots of restaurants have been struggling to stay afloat for quite a long time, and recent developments have just been the last straw for them.
That's why a considerable number of chains is closing multiple locations right now. While for some this is goodbye forever, for others, the closings are necessary to restore the health of their business. Executives are citing issues like underperformance and slowing foot traffic, as well as broader concerns about the strength of the American buying power over the long run, as some of the reasons behind the latest closures. Meanwhile, other companies are simply shuttering locations suddenly and without warning, leaving customers and even employees wondering what went wrong.

Wow the idea that they would still going to be a lot of things that they cannot find in these restaurants I mean our computers are unreliable now how in the hell is AI going to do half of what they're talking about it doing? I mean here on KZbin the idea of automating a fast food restaurant or any restaurant for that matter it's not in a concept you can find footage of experiments with this that was done in the 50s and for the most part it worked although it was not electronically driven it was largely mechanical but that form of automation actually proves to be affect so the concept of automating a restaurant at least to a certain degree can and technically has been done the problem is you're still going to require human hands to refill the machines with what they need to serve the customer you're not really going to wipe out the human hands to perform a human given track task hands of the humans will be needed somewhere along the line and it's most likely going to be more than what we're being told. There's a reason they didn't go forth with the automation in the 50s and even into even the car made it most of their work in terms of industry like the car company I would suggest if anything they had a gentleman's agreement with the politicians of the day because simply they didn't know what they were going to do with all of us. But when it comes to the restaurant well you know grown men did those jobs and they raised kids they owned houses and cars those jobs were literally normal jobs for everyday people even those middle-aged and older in fact Burger flipping at one point really was so the high horse dick heads that run around today try to say that it's not a career okay they're saying that because they don't know any better because they can brainwashed by corporations that have done nothing but devalue those jobs they've been devaluing those jobs since the late '60s and definitely through the decade of the 80s plus beyond that's where this nonsensical mentality that it's not a real man's job comes from. Of course I believe that there's a lot of jealousy that hides out in that mentality and that jealousy is simply oh it's possible somewhere between the 20s and the late 1960s they looked at one of their neighbors that was one of those Burger flippers but he too owned house and a car and raise a family and there were those that figured they did much more in a day's work and I think they were jealous so when the devaluation of those jobs come around in the corporations spoon-fed everybody bullshit that said that those jobs are teeny bopper jobs and or their supplemental jobs for the better half these people were all too quick to eat interestingly enough that mentality continues to this day particularly amongst those who think it's a flex to have a job or to work a bunch now in reality I would say in the dark deep of the night because they're pissed off and jealous it's constant that someone is able to do what they themselves deem to be less it's not that it really is less it's that they personally think it's less of a job and yet make just as much if not more money but they're hiding behind the popularity that it's not a real man's job they're hiding behind other nonsensical bullshit to cover up for the fact that most of their belief isn't really their own belief but what really is their own is nothing more jealousy. Of course a proverbial $20 an hour being paid in California but then of course the proverbial $15 an hour that is still being argued over everywhere else is largely garbage simply because everywhere else in the nation they say up to $15 an hour on the sign and they will use every excuse possible not to give you the $15 an hour secondly even if you do get the proverbial $15 an hour or in California's case the $20 an hour you still don't get an hours I mean even back when these joints were paying six seven dollars an hour so 16 to 18 years ago it was common practice and still is today that the majority of the peons do not get any more than 13 to 16 hours a week and everyone is basically capped in the pee on crowd the 20 hours a week meaning the only way you're going to get more than 60 hours is if somebody called off for 4 hour shift. So the $20 an hour Burger flipper today makes nowhere near what a burger flipper out of their grandparents is or great grandparents this time would have got simply because you are not buying a house on that shitty $20 an hour had hardly 20 hours a week so I think everybody needs to shut the fuck up and realize that it's a ripoff is what it is it's more so being done as nice to sucker people into those jobs because they want the people of the public to look at the proverbial $20 an hour via California's minimum wage or everywhere else the proverbial 15 or up to 50 get them excited get them in there and then of course well then they announce you can work up to that outside of course California that is given to you immediately the problem is it goes nowhere fast but then again $20 in California hasn't really went anywhere since what 1976? Across the map we all talk about the inflation but what is rarely ever discussed is a state by state calculation of inflation from the past I don't know 45 50 years I would suggest that California has led the way amongst many other West Coast states. in other words the inflation to California had for example 10 years ago we're getting that here in the Midwest now or you could argue that it's been here for the past 5 years but it's getting worse that's the problem is it's really been here for quite some time it's just it gets worse and worse over the years so at first nobody really notices and everybody kind of goes to sleep at the wheel for 10 years then one day they wake up and go holy fuck what happened they don't realize we've been on this trajectory for some time but they also don't seem to realize that California was in the position that most of us are in today only they were in it 30 to 45 years ago.

Well we can probably argue that it was at one time definitely cheaper than it is today however no fast food is not really cheap it's never really been cheap it's price to look cheap kind of like the misconception about the dollar store everybody hears the term dollar store so then they go in there and find that they spend far much more there than they do anywhere else it's how they sucker you in it's the same thing with fast food prices and especially their combo deals of course they fuck you in the ass anymore on the combo because the drink cost more than the rest of it. But I myself generally go into these joints and I order everything independently and that most of the time I do not get a drink you should see the funny looks I get but you know that if everybody else learned to eat you too can save the fucking $2.50 some to three dollars and some odd sense you don't need a water down fucking coke. Of course when you really want to know why the food's nasty if most of these places same worse because of God damn sauce bullshit you know you got ranch flying around everywhere that doesn't belong on shit you had a sauce for this and a sauce for that whatever there's always some dorky motherfucker stand up they're holding up the line cuz they want 75 packets of certain sauce. I Think high Time motherfuckers learn to eat at the way it comes.

Our Govt is running massive deficits, and the plan has always been to inflate the debt away. That means an erosion in the purchasing power of the dollar. Minimum wage, salaries, etc are always slow to catch up to inflation. Some companies are barely giving cost of living raises year to year, so you essentially make less and less money every year. Luxuries such as vacations, dining out, streaming services, etc will be some of the first expenses to be cut.

"Our Govt is running massive deficits, and the plan has always been to inflate the debt away". This comment from a fellow Critical Thinker just made my week! Thank you! 😀❤ "Some companies are barely giving cost of living raises year to year" - which is one of the hidden pitfalls of servicing corporate debt due to increased interest rates. Corporations will - almost - always reduce OPEX and CAPEX when interest rates rise. The "masses" see this with statements like "Do more with less!".

The reasons these restaurants are giving for the closures is absolutely hilarious...The real reasons are that they over saturated the market with to many stores using cheap credit to make it appear as if the company is growing so as to artificially raise their stock values. The food they offer has gone down in quality. The service they provide has gone down in quality. The quantity of food sold in the meals has gone down...Yet the prices have gone up. It just isn't worth it any more.

Either way they generally have the same problems and that is simply that no matter if it's the corporation or the individual franchise holder they took on way too much debt of course they will walk her out of blame minimum wage but if anyone was capable of doing math especially analytical math then they would realize that is a lie simply because those employees either being paid the proverbial 15 dollars an hour or now the new California pervertible $20 an hour it doesn't really matter simply because there's people do not get anywhere near 40 hours a week in fact most peons in a restaurant environment are capped at 13-16 hours a week and they will see no more than 20 hours a week. So they're still making the equivalent of dog shit and no it's not really costly employers half as much as they get on TV and whine about you see they need to be held accountable with by that I mean they need to prove their case if it really is hurting them then how come none of them not a fucking one up have opened their books and showed the public that it really truly actually is hurting and I'll tell you why because if they did we'd know the truth which is their full of shit and vinegar.

If you are in couple, they stick you next to the toilets, close to the kitchen, so they don't have to walk too far. They will crank the AC up because they walk around and sweat. They don't care if you are freezing. Etc... Going out is not a pleasant experience and the mandatory tipping makes it worthlessly costly. As a result I do not go out any longer. I had too many bad experiences from misandrist or lazy waitresses. I'd rather stay home and cook for ourselves something nice.

We rarely eat out, we live in a touristy area and the restaurants have always had poor quality because they’ll be busy no matter what they do. But the last few years it’s gotten worse. Even eating at home is getting silly. We just made a family pact to cut out the flavored waters and no more OJ.

Well, yes Peru is the global south, and its not focused on eternal, growth, development, control and domination. Here, they continually tax and steal from the people. Example : They steal farmers land that grow chickens for the world, through one sided contracts. The farmers are forced to sell to the bank to pay their debt to the chicken company. Then, Bill gates buys their land from the bank.

There was a family get together in a central town last winter. MacDonalds was chosen for the playroom. I am in Canada, so you can not just order patties. So I ordered a double burger with pickles only. No bun, ketchup, etc. Gluten issues and low carb. The two patties were maybe 2 inches wide. Maybe. And about an 8th of an inch thick. The 2 pickles were paper thin as well. I had no idea how small everything was now. Normally only get coffee there.

boston market is gone in nj maybe one or two left but they will be gone soon. main reason is 600k in back salaries and fines they got hit with by dept of labor in nj and failure to pay for supplies. one by me had big signs and posts by town state and even federal notices of it being closed in mid february and had been taken down i think sometimes in last week of march...and funny thing is boston market had not ipdated its store locator

Surprised Jack N'Box was not on this list; I kicked my addiction 3 months ago--their food is overpriced garbage. I go out to eat once a week at a family owned Greek place, and aside from that, every meal I make is at home. Greek place has family deals I can eat for 3 lunches at work. No streaming subscriptions, which motivates me to read the books on my shelves. Car insurance increased by 50%, so I'm going to be switching from a small tier cell provider to an even smaller provider with a more modest 'data' plan to offset my increasing home internet costs too

It's because nobody has any disposable income to spend at these places anymore. That and you can get the same food at a bar for cheaper. The truth is that the economy is in a depression. The job market is the worst it's been in decades (worse than 2008), pay is stagnant, there will be even more layoffs because of interest rates remaining high and there will be another credit collapse and watch as people lose their homes left and right.

Local and state governments are getting into small business operations and regulate them out of business. Governments regulating wages, taxes, and DEI. Sanitation is getting worse. food coming from Mexico where they use human waste in the fields and use pesticides. I expect people who graduate colleges with degrees in business management are taught closing of businesses. Lawyers are involved when someone wants a lawsuit. Finally, inflation is under new management, big Joe.
