For me, as a convert, following Sunni Islam ignoring the Islamic history is wilfull blindness. It's like being Christian without studying the history of the Bible and the first centuries of Christianity. You can not ignore the history if you are really interested in the truth. And the proof that this is history is that it's clearly recorded in both the Sunni an Shia books.

The verse, the second of the two, is actually detrimental to Abu Bakr because it says "Have no fear, for Allah is with us". Abu Bakr had fear of the disbelievers finding them. If he was so good, he should not have fear of anyone expect Allah.

When I was growing up they always told me not to listen to Shias coz they will confuse and convince me. But they forgetting that truth stands and God has given me brain and reasoning. In the Quran zakat goes side by side with salah. It is the shia who did not follow the Quran and give zakat. As for Tarweeh (which shias consider innovation) what is wrong in praying and remembering Allah more. The shias have innovations too by praying to the imams and asking for help from them which the imams did not do. The imams were God-centric. Dont the shias do mutah in Iran?

Whatever took place at Saqifa was NOT out of malice ( u won’t agree as the very foundation of shiaISM will fall apart). I believe people can plan anything they want to but Allah is the Best Planner and in His Wisdom everything happens according to HIS WILL. Hazrat Ali was the spiritual leader of the people and he was Not interested in becoming a political leader (caliph). Imam Jaffer as Sadeq was offered the position to become the caliph of the Ummah but he declined. Hazrat Ali’s advise and judgement was sought by the 3 caliphs in All matters when needed. He as well as other imams gave spiritual guidance to the people of their time. It was Allah’s Plan for them to serve as spiritual leaders of the Muslims. Imam Backer opened an academy of learning which was carried on by imam Jaffer as sadeq. So Every true Muslim has love for the ahlul bayt and the khulafa Rashedun. I Believe that our Prophet was sent as Rahmatul Aalameen who forgave his bitterest of enemies. And the Imams followed in his footsteps.

Thaani ithnain refers to the Prophet SAWW not Abu Bakr. It's very disappointing to see someone like Yasir Qadhi making such a false statement. Secondly that verse does not contain any praise for Abu Bakr but rather it's a rebuke of him and the Sahaba who refused to help the Prophet SAWW.

In praise of Abubakr, verse 9.40: " If you will not aid him, Allah certainly aided him when those who disbelieved expelled him, he being the second of the two, when they were both in the cave, when he said to his companion: grieve not, surely Allah is with us. So Allah sent down His tranquility upon him and strengthened him with hosts which you did not see." The tranquility descended on one person, upon him,who? Bara'at, ghadeer, dawat Al asheera, Aaron is to moses hadith, mubahila: being nafs of the prophet, Khayber: I give the banner to man who loves me and Allah and Allah and me love him, The strike of Ali on the day of khandaq, bravery, knowledge: most knowledgeable and the gate of the city of knowledge which is the prophet. Hadeeths of khalifati, wasi, minni. Bara'at is the best coz it shows one being removed and other being placed. Another, Maula, and then nafs of Rasool! All of those no? The darkest hour was when those who claimed to be Shian e Ali murdered a righteous ruler. Same in the forces of Ali (rta) fought Ayesha(rta) mother of the Believers and then were known as Khwaraji. That was the darkest hour. Saqifa was a victory for Shura, republican values to which, though very late in the 20th century the Shias of Iran have drifted to . They have reformed ever so slowly. Eventually they will give up the myth of an expected Mahdi, and reliance on the impossible concept of the infallible and divinely appointed Imam and join the Muslim mainstream closer to republican practices like the Ibadi.

Saqifa was not even a proper Shura or republican values. A couple of companions secretly met together in secret to choose a leader amongst them and killed anyone who dared disagree in the ridda wars. Then the first ruler selected his second. Then the second selected a group of six to choose the third amongst themselves. Ironically the only two rulers to actually be elected by proper wide shura and bay'ah were Imam Ali and Imam Hasan lol
