Thank you so much for your kind words! Since I fell in love with the harp, I so wish it would be more accessible to more people! And I am genuinely convinced that you can express and enjoy yourself with smaller instruments. Wishing you lots of great music in your life!

Quite a concert, Marianne, as well as a showcase for your talent and the possibilities with the small harp. Beautiful music start to finish and although all tunes were great, I especially enjoyed your rendition on Pachelbel's Canon. Thanks for sharing, I will be replaying this many times!

Thank you. This inspired me to play yet more songs on my Derwent 15 string harp. It sometimes feels restrictive having no sharping levers but playing within the diatonic parameters is part of the fun. I particularly enjoyed Greensleeves in Dm Dorian Mode.

This is gorgeous! I’ve always wanted to learn harp, and just came across the Aklot 15. And now, you’ve provided a beautiful list of songs to play, so thank you! I am curious if Rupert Gregson-Williams’ Harmonia’s Song could be played on it? Have you heard this song before? It was composed for a film, Jack and the Beanstalk: The Real Story. Beautiful piece!

Working on silent night... Finding those roll chords a little difficult to do. Guess it comes with practice.
@mariannebouvettemusic2 жыл бұрын
Just relax your hands and play those roll chords very slow, one note after the other! You can gradually increase the speed but there’s no need to play them super fast.

Thank you for the recommendation of this 15 string beauty and your amazing music too. I'll be receiving mine in a couple of days. What would you recommend for the best string replacements?
@mariannebouvettemusic2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Drew! This harp typically gets delivered with its own set of replacement strings. I haven’t felt the need to change the original strings which for me have worked just fine so far. Enjoy your new instrument!
@Joseph_harpist2 жыл бұрын
The secret is to request the sellers (the standard string set) only then and only then they will send you the set that includes the Red and Blue others wise they think you are Chinese buyers we with green strings. This info if from friends on Facebook who have experience in rig them sellers up for strings replacement gauges.

Presuming the strings are tuned to a 12-step octave, what are the last 3 strings tuned to? In theory, a standard harp could be tuned to a 24-step octave (Eastern scale), but i don't know if they do that.......
@mariannebouvettemusic3 жыл бұрын
Hey, Celtic harps are typically tuned diatonically, not chromatically. So when you tune in C major diatonically essentially you have the equivalent of 2 octaves worth of white keys on a piano from C to C.

All my musical abilities is with fretted instruments such as guitar, mandolin etc. Can this be played in all keys? How do you play sharps?
@mariannebouvettemusic Жыл бұрын
Hi, you can easily transpose these simple tunes in any key. On a simple harp like this one you can’t play accidentals in the middle of a tune, you would need levers for that. You can “fix” sharps or flats at the beginning of a song by tuning certain strings accordingly but you will be stuck with those throughout the song! I find harp much easier and much more intuitive to play than fretted instruments as you can visualise the scale very easily so I envy your abilities which I don’t have!

Hey, thanks a lot for your interest! The cost of the e-book “15 tunes for 15 string harp” is 15 euro, it actually includes a bundle of 3 different versions of the same e-book: a standard version, a second version including string indications following Anglo-Saxon pitch name convention (ABCDEFG) and a third version including string indications following European pitch name convention (do re mi fa sol la si). I created that bundle to help beginner musicians read sheet music more easily. Feel free to email me at info@celticizemeandjazzmeup.com for details!
