Outlast, the Fatal Frame/ Project Zero series, Little Nightmares, Silent Hill 2, the Amnesia series, Alien: Isolation, Until Dawn, The Evil Within, Soma, Dead Space 1, Blair Witch, The Last of Us, Resident Evil 7 & 8..All are survival horror games that terrified me on psychological level that I will never forget. Just like my scariest horror movies in the 2000s I grew up with.

I have loved survival horror since OG Resident Evil. Your channel showed up in my algorithm and I love your list. I appreciate the Fatal Frame and Visage love and not just focusing on PT. The only thing I will say, I am a huge Fatal Frame fan but, I think Crimson Butterfly or even The Tormented have more scenes and stories that have stayed with me over the years more than Lunar Eclipse. However, that is my own personal opinion. Thank you for your awesome list. Check out the Clock Tower series sometime. Those games have stayed with me for years!

Survival horror, third person, with fixed camera angles (some without), tank controls, exploration, not a shooting gallery. not much ammo/health, inventory menagement, puzzles (a lot of puzzles) slow pace, not a ton of jump scares more like creepy music while you explore, you never know what will jump out next, that is survival horror!

Good list. For me The Evil Within 2 was better than the 1st, and is a near flawless game, although both are great. A couple more mentions are The Beast Inside the Resident Evil 2 remake.

This is the second comment that these aren’t Survival Horror games when they literally are! It’s a sub-genre that’s expanded and grown quite a bit in since it was originally coined in 1996 with Resident Evil.

Fobia St Difna Hotel is a great Resident Evil style game (with a 1st person perspective). Tormented Souls is also a great game if harkens back to old school Resident Evil 1/ Silent Hill games… Both are awesome. Daymare is another one but isn’t as good as the first two (this one does look as a low budget indie game)

Because i play in the living room and i don't live alone. Daughter, wife, subtitles is a way for me to not having to crank the sound up to 11 and still being able to understand everything that's said. I hate playing with headsets.

studios recent sound mixing with games and media have all catered to things with surround sound systems and high tech. Its nearly impossible to hear characters talk but music and sound effects are insanely loud. Plus not everyone has the option or resources to own a nice gaming headset, on top of the fact that not every game has the option to change what kind of audio formatting you want.

@@SamuraiKensei276 If I ware a Rezzie fanboy, I'd unequivocally like all RE games, which I'm sure will shock you, I don't. Nor am I a fan of all Silent Hill games. I beat TEW a long time ago and the game simply felt like it was trying too hard to be scary and smart and poignant and so many different things at the same time, that despite its initially shocking and graphic visuals and set pieces, it failed in all of those regards, remaining but a mediocre experience in the sea of far superior titles that don't try to blend a 100 different horror tropes and themes into one story. I'm glad you enjoyed TEW, but it's just not for me.
